Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWifi was not strong in the annexe.
In a quiet town just off the autoroute. The room was very reasonably priced so we didn't have high expectations of luxury, but it was perfectly adequate although quite spartan, and in an annexe just round the corner from the restaurant. Plenty of parking. Excellent, simple and good value menu. Very traditional France. Run by the owner for many years.

Not enough for the cost. Loved the ruralness if there is a word to use. Lot of locals used the restaurant which was almost full. Dinner was excellent. You could eat as much or as little as you wanted.

IcelandIt was unfortunate for us that the hotel's restaurant was closed (along with everything else in the area) because of the bank holiday, but we we told of that in advance and were glad to be offered a room.
I am reluctant to comment, not because of anything to do with Le Lichou, but because some of my previous comments have been edited by Booking.com in a disagreeable and unnecessary manner. Earlier in this survey, I was asked "Comment s'est passé votre séjour dans l'établissement le lichou ?" Note that this question is NOT about the hotel or its qualities, but about THIS PARTICULAR STAY there. That was somewhat less satisfactory than it might have been, without the hotel being in any way at fault: In the event, it was a bank holiday and the hotel's (excellent) restaurant was closed along with all restaurants, shops, and services in the area. The proprietors were kind enough to offer us a room to which they left us the key, even though they were, in effect, off duty. We have stayed at this hotel before more than once and have always enjoyed it. We will surely be back again. It is a simple, unpretentious, old-fashioned (and very French) roadside hotel that is exactly to our taste, with a friendly, helpful staff, an excellent restaurant, and very basic, but comfortable, rooms that are clean and in which everything (including the free wifi) works: all offered at an unbeatable price. The hotel is excellently located for breaking up our drives between ouest France and Provence. It is very popular with bicyclists in the summer (bicycles are available for rent) and is handy to the spectacular Forêt de Tronçais. If your taste runs, like ours, to simple, basic and traditional, this hotel has much to recommend it.

IcelandThere was really nothing that we didn't like, but our expectations were adjusted to our understanding of what a place like this has to offer. Thus, we enjoyed our stay immensely.
France used to be filled with old-fashioned, roadside hotels this type. They made traveling through France a real pleasure for ordinary people who liked good food, a comfortable bed, maybe a few drinks, and French bonhomie—all at a modest price. Now such places are a rarity. But my wife and I love them, when we can find them. We have stayed twice at Le Lichou—once in the off-season and once just now in the high season in the midst of a horrid heat wave. It was a pleasure both times, but the quieter, cooler off-season was a greater pleasure. We chose this hotel in the first place as an overnight stopping place to break up a long journey. On that criterion, Le Lichou was perfectly located. That might not be what others are searching for, but the place is popular as a stopover for cyclists. We expected Le Lichou to provide very simple, basic accommodation, which it did. But our rooms were recently done up, clean, and with a reasonably good bed; small, private bathroom with a shower and a couple of skimpy towels, but everything in working order (including the internet!). In the heat wave, it made a difference that our room was individually air conditioned. The price of a room at Le Lichou is extremely reasonable—no question about value for money, despite the modesty of the accommodation. But the big surprise for us at Le Lichou was the restaurant. We had no great hopes ahead of time, but it turned out to offer a selection of some of our favorite French classics. (I enjoyed tête de veau on both occasions with ile flottante for dessert; you occasionally find the former at French lunch restaurants, but I hadn't seen the latter in years; my wife enjoyed some similar classics.

United KingdomLooks lovely and typically French from outside, in reality stay is in a tiny room in a different building behind that pictured. No wardrobe in room and no terrace despite stating there is on booking.com. Garden questionable a small grass bit out back, not fenced and no seating. Breakfast expensive for chopped pieces of baguette and jam but coffee was good.
It was clean. The bathroom was spotless. Evening meal was ok and the gentleman serving was pleasant. Great coffee in the morning.

United KingdomThe walls were paper-thin, so we could hear everything in the next room - to include them having very loud sex and then later we could hear them snoring! The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the décor was very tired looking, we couldn't use the TV, due to the thin walls and the building that the four rooms were located in was not the pretty picture shown on the website, it was in a concrete square block around the back. This is not somewhere I would want to stay again!
The room was clean, shower was nice and it was located in a lovely quiet village. The restaurant was superb, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The owner was very pleasant and even made a space in the restaurant for my dog.
