Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing really
Full of character. A traditional French inn turned into a comfortable hotel with good facilities. The restaurant is obviously very popular with the locals and provides good fare for travellers. The link with Joan of Arc is a bonus

United KingdomI left feeling Le Lion D’Or could have been a delightful little bijou overnight stop but the surroundings and ambiance let it down. The area outside the bedrooms is described as a balcony/ patio which is true but it is not in good repair and the tired and worn plastic seating and tables outside the bedrooms definitely need replaced. It could have been so much prettier with a little care. Sadly my evening meal was also luke warm. I had to ask for my roast beef to be reheated as parts were cold. This worried me that it had not been freshly cooked. I was disappointed. There was a general lack of engagement by the young staff.
The location is delightful in the middle of the village opposite the church. The restaurant was spacious and our bedroom was perfectly clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The host was helpful.

United KingdomThere was no fan or A/C in the room - it was a little warm but not unbearable.
This is a charming traditional French hotel in a small town - it had character and we loved it! The quad family room (one double, two singles) was spacious with a clean modern bathroom. We ate in the restaurant downstairs which was busy on a Saturday night - with lots of French diners which is always a good sign. Moderately priced but good quality, French food. We just had one night here as a base to visit ZooParc Beauval the next day. Would definitely stay there again. Free secure parking was a bonus.

United KingdomHotel not open until 6pm. Breakfast 9am, but that suited me, and it was quiet and out-of-season
A convenient stopover between the Med and the Channel, but although I hadn’t realised it, it was a very interesting hotel and town to stop as well as potentially a useful centre for the mid Loire area. History of Joan of Arc, who stayed here, and the building has been sensitively converted into a comfortable hotel and restaurant with off-street parking. It may not offer modern luxuries, but all the reasonable facilities are there (en suite, WiFi, etc) and much more interesting than most stopovers. Well worth considering if you want to experience real France

United KingdomNothing to dislike.
Do not be deceived by the first impression of the exterior. It looks a little tired BUT the interior is clean and tidy. The rooms are simple but comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful for both the hotel and the restaurant. There is free secure off road parking to the rear. The town was quiet at night meaning I had a good nights sleep. The restaurant was fantastic with some seriously good French food. Book the restaurant in advance to avoid disappointment. I would visit it again.

United KingdomThe bedroom was basic, perfectly adequate and clean. Don't expect toweling gowns and slippers, do expect a clean, quiet room in which to sleep after an exceptional dinner
A simple hotel which we booked mostly for the reputation of the restaurant, which we found fully justified. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the premises from the outside - it looks like a simple bar so typical of France (nothing wrong with that), but dining in the courtyard at the rear is a wonderful experience in itself, enhanced by the food offered.

United KingdomThere wasn't anything we didn't like.
Lovely place with their own excellent restaurant. Huge, quiet room. Beautiful old wisteria outside our room. Great location. Good breakfast including freshly pressed orange juice. B.t.w. Joan of Arc stayed here in 1429.

United KingdomNo breakfast taken. Yes, historic building but I wonder if everything complies with safety standards. The bathroom was a large room with facilities but could have served as a bedroom. Not over-impressed.
