How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

The only thing that is perhaps a little negative is that there's not much in the area surrounding it and it's a bit of a walk to the busier parts of the city. But it was very quiet, which is always a plus.
This is a unique hotel and staying was a special experience. We didn't eat there but the food always looked very good; we did have coffee and it was excellent. The room was delightful and having the toilet separate is a nice luxury. The bath products were of excellent quality, and I like their environmental considerations. Rennes is worth a visit but isn't a place I need to return to, but I would happily stay in Le Magic Hall if it were in another French city!

Everything is perfect. On the day we arrived, the hair dryer was broken but the staff is very nice and the problem was solved efficiently. I would recommend this hotel and I think I would still choose it if I would visit Rennes again.

The hotel has an unusual and interesting lay-out complete with cinema themes and a music room. It is eco-friendly with a waste reduction policy. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very helpful.

No kettle in the bedroom
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is small and welcoming. We managed to get a parking space outside but I think we were lucky! The breakfast is simple but delicious. A short walk into the centre - we would stay again.

It is quirky and stylish; what a find! There is always something to look at, art, books magazines and the collections of books and vinyl. It has a wonderfully relaxed vibe. The beds were so comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and again full of delicious surprises. Charming staff. It’s possible to play your music as loud as you like in soundproofed rooms! There was also a drum kit available to play.

The Magic Hall convince with it’s/ their personal attitude. The team always supports in an individual way, preparing drinks, dinner and breakfast in an open kitchen around a big table for the guests. A lot of meaningful details/ also in design and art to discover.

We chose not to eat what looked a delicious breakfast as it was a set price of 14 euros which was too pricey for what we would have eaten. it would have been good to be able to have a cheaper smaller version available. But the earl grey tea was very nice!
So quirky, different, artistic and stylish. Very helpful and friendly staff . The chef cooks your dinner after discussing it with you, (we’re vegetarian and it was no problem) and it was delicious! The shower had excellent pressure, the bed was supercomfortable and we were allowed to store our bikes safely. It is a two minute walk into town.

Super friendly staff - the receptionist was very patient with my terrible French! The breakfast was excellent, probably the best we had on our entire trip to France. The music studio was a great surprise and it was so fun to relax and play some songs together. The entire hotel had interesting art and design that made for a unique experience.

It will be nice that hotel has a park places for guests. In nearby garage ,which was suggested by recepttion from 9 pm to 12 am -around 30 euros.

Air conditioning would have been a bonus, it was quite hot when we were there so this would have made the sleep a little more comfortable.
Check-in was seamless and quick, and we were given some great recommendations for dinner. The room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable.

First class facilities with bags of character, would suit film buffs and art lovers (us). Breakfast is a communal affair where you cook what you want, plenty of help-yourself goodies. We loved the fact it had a music studio for use by guests - you certainly dont get that everywhere! Bed was lovely and comfy and TV was massive. We would return in a heartbeat. Merci mille fois xx

The only tiny thing I would change was the pillow! It was very hard- but that’s just personal preference.
