Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThis hotel is amazing! Such a grand hotel with lots of character, and good location. The staff, Dimitri and Mattis, were super helpful and assisted us with arranging a day tour to Saint Emillion as well with booking restaurants in the area for us. They really went out of their way to make our stay memorable. I can highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a boutique hotel with lots of warmth

United KingdomAs rooms are accessed by walking around the pool, I'd suggest keeping the water clear and looking clean even off-season when it's not being used.
A luxurious experience with an attentive and professional young team of staff and lots of thoughtful and high quality details in the room. Next time, I think we'll stay another night and eat in the restaurant.

United KingdomVery much enjoyed the breakfast in our room on one morning though it was expensive. The room was expensive for three nights out of season but overall the standard of accommodation and the jacuzzi on the terrace were worth the money.
Staff were super friendly and helpful. They made an effort when they realised it was my partner’s birthday placing balloons and cake in our room. There was a bottle of wine in our room on arrival, some fruit and candles which made us feel very welcome. There was also a fridge so we could have our own wine or fresh milk. The room was very well sij proofed and quiet and beds very comfortable so we slept very well.

GermanyI am very critical about hotels and I always find something to complain about, this time I have to say I could not find anything. The prices are not low, but given the service provided, it is justified.
The street where this wonderful hotel is situated is a quiet one, with barely any cars and having the tram nearby. The hidden jewels in town are very nearby (The Public Gardens), also many cafés and bakeries, while the luxury shops and the theater and a 15-minute-walk away. The room has been very tastefully decorated, every detail counts. The quality of the sheets, the quietness of the room, the dark curtains that maintain the room dark in the morning, the switchers for the lights, very modern and practical.

PortugalThe room is outside the building, in very cold weather, you need to dress warmly to go have breakfast.

AustraliaThe junior suite was not furnished in very warm and inviting way, though completely functional and well provided with the expected amenities. It did not have that sense of arriving to a comfortable home that the best 5 star hotels manage.
Staff were all exceptionally customer oriented, we genuinely felt cared about. Very good breakfast in a pleasant room. The two floor junior suite had the big advantage that it could accommodate two children (10 and 8) in a large and comfortable sofa bed on the lower floor. A bonus was a wonderful roman amphitheatre ruin just around the corner from the hotel. It was a max 20 minute walk to most anywhere you'd want to go in the central city.

South AfricaInternet very slow. Kept dropping the line Don’t try using Bolt or Uber will only pick you up if you going on a long distance. Will not find a driver if you going to the city centre from the hotel. Normal taxi service will pick you up but normally have to wait at least 15 minutes. Not pleasant standing in the rain waiting

United StatesLots of free offerings in the room looked a bit clustered and claustrophobic. Too many unnecessary furnishings made room a bit smaller even though the room is ver spacious.

United StatesI can’t lie - I was expecting a bit better from this property. The bathroom was part of the room, and only separated by curtains! At this price point and hotel star rating - I expect a real private bathroom with actual walls. (Toilet was in a closet, thankfully!) The hallway leading to the room smelled a bit like mildew. I really, really wanted to like this hotel more. Historical and lots of atmosphere, but at this price point, it failed to meet expectations. Location is not great - a bit out of the way from everything.
Great staff. Excellent restaurant recommendations by the staff.

Italywe slept on the sofa bed to leave the bedroom for our daughters and I must say it was not comfortable, we reported it to the staff. Things that happen.
I liked the breakfast in the garden close to the swimming pool. The hotel is in a comfortable position, walking distance to the city center. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are quiet, and the hotel is quiet. The swimming pool is open 24/7 and due to the heat wave we experienced during our stay, it was great to find the swimming pool available after dinner!
