Parking was to little for my family car, no problem but it would have been useful knowing it is a car park for small regular cars. Host very helpful as per where to park but as my own cost.

Drivers should be aware of very narrow access and restricted parking space. Those with heavy luggage that this is a four/five-storey building without a lift. Reception on first-floor, rooms on second-floor upwards.

A perfect base for a week exploring Besancon and area. Personally managed by the owner. On a historic site at the epicentre of town, at the end of a long courtyard leading off the main street. Terrace and balcony rooms open on to a large mature garden, so very peaceful at night. Excellent bed and bedding, breakfast, (small) bathroom, WiFi, TV. Thank you, Mme Bertin, for your hospitality.

Staying on the last floor below the roof, it was very very hot without air conditioning. In general, the hotel needs some renovation.

It was great to have a safe place to store my bike. The garden was very nice and quiet.

The trash in our bathroom was full when we arrived, and the provided mugs did not seem to be very thoroughly washed. The Wi-Fi did not work at all.

The room was very hot (Its been a bonkers summer) and it made sleeping very difficult. In opening the window, the noise of a large air-conditioning unit for the adjacent building made it very noisy in the room. Parking is available - but its tight and I wasn't prepared to get my E-Class stuck in the narrow passage way to the hotel

The host had obviously been a local for a considerable period of time and was able to advise on different activities and places to visit / eat. The hotel was situated right in the center of town. It made walking to restaurants and other parts of Besancon really easy. The room was clean and the bathroom was modern. On arriving, the temperature was the other side of 35 degrees and the room we had originally booked (A family room) was as hot as an oven. The host offered us two rooms on a lower floor for no extra charge. They were significantly cooler and also afforded us more space.

Rooms were a bit dark and stuffy (but clean, and with small balconies facing the garden).

The hotel is well located in the centre of town, but quiet due to being withdrawn from the street in a cosy backyard. It is familiy-owned and breakfast is served in a combined reception, office, and living room, amid the family's stuff - cosy enough. There are small balconies to the rooms, facing a green (if somewhat worn) backyard and garden area, and equipped with chairs and a table. This highly improves the otherwise quite dark and somewhat stuffy (but clean) rooms.

Breakfast was quite comprehensive and nicely presented. The room overlooked a nice garden and there was a fountain there so the gentle flow of the water was quite pleasant to hear. It felt like being in the countryside while being right in the middle of the city. Very very pleasant.

Parking is a little tricky. Mdme Bertin kindly let us have a space but you may struggle in busier months so an alternative parking plan would be a good idea.

Lovely location set back from the main street. Slightly quirky which I really liked. Very comfy beds and visiting in the Summer would be a bonus as you could sit on the pretty terrace. Mme Bertin was kind and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I look forward to returning on my next trip to Besancon.

The best years of the hotel are in the past, that goes especially for the garden. Skip the breakfast, it’s not worth the money they charge for it.

Very nice and comfortable beds! Clean rooms. It’s right in the town center, free parking If you got the skills. Hotel is suitable for those who don’t fancy the Best Western formula but seek a quiet hotel with a rather personal style.

Staff is not speaking english at all. They ordered taxi for us that didnt come, so we almost missed the train to airport. Garden needs a lot of work.. it is a jungle.
