Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe 4.30pm check in time was a bit late for us but if I had read the booking details carefully enough I would have known this was the case.
My wife is disabled and the room we had on the ground floor was absolutely perfect for us - in fact it was exceptional.

United KingdomThe wifi was slow and intermittent, perhaps due to our room being on the top floor?
Location was excellent and the host very friendly and accommodating in spite of the fact that we were the only guests on the first night of our stay. The restaurant was closed but we were warned in advance so it wasn't a problem.

AustraliaThe host of the property lacked any personality and was extremely difficult to strike up a conversation. Seemed to lack interest in things.
Breakfast was okay, nothing really to rave about.

United KingdomWe were told we couldn't check-in until 4.30pm. We arrived just after this time with one other couple (we were the only residents). It appeared that the receptionist (who doubled as waiter & barman - was the only member of staff, apart from the chef) & he had only just arrived at the hotel. He asked what time we wanted dinner, I said 7.30pm, he encouraged me to come at 7pm, but we sat down around 7.20pm. He showed us to our rooms, well he showed us through the door of the building the rooms were in and pointed us up the stairs to the direction of our rooms which were unlocked. Dinner was nice, but we felt the service was brisk and our waiter/receptionist/barman wanted to go home. We asked to pay the bill that evening as we were leaving at 8am the next morning. He told us to leave the keys on the reception desk as he may be there. We went to our rooms and by 9.30pm our toilet wouldn't flush. The cistern kept filling and wouldn't stop. My husband went to tell the receptionist/waiter/barman but the reception area was locked up and all the lights were turned off. We were very surprised that not one member of staff was on duty to help at such an early hour. Although it was extremely inconvenient that our toilet didn't work, we were lucky as we could use the toilet in our son's room downstairs, however if there had been an emergency there would have been no hotel staff there to assist and I think this is very poor and really quite concerning. When we left the next morning, the receptionist/waiter/barman had just arrived. We told him about the toilet, but he did not seem unduly concerned.

GuernseyImagine staying in an authentic French home in an idyllic historical village location which is silent at night and you have it all here. If you want a modern hotel with 24hr service then don’t come here but if you want a special unique experience that still has modern sanitary wear and personalised service and food then do visit.

United KingdomWe were very happy with our stay; no negative comments
The location was perfect. The courtyard parking was secure, and we could have had pre-dinner drinks on a small terrace outside our room. The room was characterful, clean and comfortable. Dinner was very good, as was breakfast the next day.

United KingdomThe owner could've been more pleasant and more welcoming. A major downside to this marvellous property. As he was very much like (without saying it), well, don't/didn't you know that!? The room was OK but nothing outstanding. My partner and I always give generous and very fair reviews, and this is our overall opinion on this hotel.
Traditionally French and with a light and airy feeling - very pleasant! Parking was good and secure, and the hotel had good facilities overall.

United KingdomThe towels were very small and the room a little cramped. But we didn't mind but want to point out for others. We would have liked to have sat outside or in the window for dinner but the owner was put off by a very light rain shower that was disappointing.
Loved the location, such a beautiful village and the hotel is quaint, french and full of character! It isn't luxurious but we loved the authentic feel. especially the view from the windows through the shutters across the courtyard.

IrelandWe stayed in a house in this village (two families with small kids) more than thirty years ago. In comparison the village has died with most shops closed. In the main square while there were tables and chairs there appeared to be no open café. While it is a lovely medieval village it appears to be preserved for day trippers. The only open café was overwhelmed at lunch time having to turn away customers. The markings for some of the walks need to be improved. We are experienced walkers in France and used to following way marks but still managed to go badly astray and had to use Google maps to resolve the issue.
The hotel was pleasant with helpful staff. We had dinner on both nights and breakfast on both mornings all of which were good. The hotel has a very good local wine selection a sample of which we purchased on leaving. We were lucky that we decided to eat in the hotel as there appeared to be only one café/bar which served food and it may not have been open in the late evening. The Tourist Office was helpful in giving us details of walks in the area.
