Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe stairs, but off set by low price and charm.
This is a funky apartment, not for everyone. First off, it is a sixth floor walk-up. Up a narrow stair case of ancient plank raw wood. We had two bags apice, a suit case that fits into an overhead bin, and a hand carry that stows under a seat. The two suit cases were a challenge for me on two consecutive trips up, and I am in good shape for a senior. The room is charming. The bed comfortable. The location ideal for anyone wanting to explore the charms of the town, especially those hiking the Chemin St Jacques. It comes down from the church right by the side of the building. There is a restaurant on the ground floor that provides the key, the code, and instructions. They are fluent in English. Also, they provide excellent food at a reasonable price. They had a superb tiramisu. I would recommend it to any of my Camino hiking friends. The stairs will prepare you for your climb out-of-town.

NetherlandsThe shower head did not work, meaning that we had to use the tab. But that was not a problem for us.
Great location, access goes via codes that you receive before hand. It is right at the city center between all the good restaurants. Room is very spacious with everything you need at hand. Very clean!

It was very quirky. Up five flights of worn, winding, wooden stairs lugging your bag then a large attic space with all mod cons. Comfortable with a great view, very central.

United KingdomFully electric toilet with heated seat, bum washing spray and blow dry, no toilet paper. Kind of amusing at first but not sure it actually works that well once the novelty has worn off!
We were sent a code for the doors/keys. Very easy to get in. The apartment was very spacious and clean, with very big bathroom and a comfortable bed. It is right in the middle of town, about 10 minutes walk to the Cathedral for the morning mass before setting out on the GR65 pilgrimage. Although be warned our apartment was on the 5th floor and there is no lift, which we were happy with but could be a problem for some.

FranceThe rickety stairs leading up to the rooms are something you'll remember for a long time. People with mobility issues might want to consider staying elsewhere. Always wear shoes because the wooden floors sometimes have splinters. The toilet area was cramped. Unfortunately, the property is on a busy square and there was LOUD NOISE from drunken revelers all night long, even after the bars and restaurants had closed. NEVERTHELESS it all has a certain charm and we don't regret staying...the owners were friendly and helpful. The beds and rooms were CLEAN, and our room also had a practical kitchen that was well-equipped.
The best thing about this property is the LOCATION. It's intra-muros Le Puy, and better situated than most other hotels in the town. Very close to anything you'd like to see. The square in front, along with the nearby streets, are all picturesque. The property is located in the lower town and yet is quite close to the stairs leading to the cathedral. The other good thing is the fact that there's a restaurant right downstairs, and is part of the property. The owners were very happy to make space and give us a table when other restaurants were full...and the food at the restaurant is also quite good. Convivial atmosphere and friendly service. The bed was quite comfy.

AustraliaDoor code for entry wouldn't work and phone calls to two different numbers got message bank for Restaurant which was closed at that time. After half an hour, someone coming out let us in, and told us to really push the door hard to get in! A quick bit of maintenance would fix that. Also, very noisy in square until 5:30 next morning , but we had a very hot night, so had to keep windows open.
Right in heart of old town overlooking busy square.

AustraliaThere are some narrow winding stairs to navigate up, this was not a problem for me but may be for other people.
The location overlooking the City Plaza was exciting, it was busy with dining, dancing and unique shopping. The apartment had everything we needed to cook dinner and all the ingredients to cook are from shops that are very close. I had a luxurious bath which was so good after long travels! Plenty of hot water and fluffy white towels. Very comfortable bed and pillows
