Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot much.
The location is close to le vieux port but still very quiet. Excellent breakfast. Our hostess was friendly & helpful, receptive to requests. E.g plug in the basin was missing & she got one that day...the layout of room & little balcony good...the decoration, the pictures... beautiful!

FranceThe single bed was ok, but not great for an adult.
We had one of three rooms in what felt like it had been a family home. Our was upstairs and overlooked a small but lovely garden, a great surprise in the heart of the city. Breakfast, which was good, was served at a communal table in the garden. Great location to explore the heart of Marseille, in a safe area with plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

AustraliaProbably a little bit more signage as to which property was the Abbaye, after you walk through the front gate there are 2-3 properties you could access, nearly went into a neighbours house. Make sure you get an email detailing the code to get in, we sort of did but t was the wrong code, and then where to go. Perhaps a short note detailing was areas of the B&B we could use, e.g. can I use the kitchen to make coffee? There’s a kettle in the room but only 2 teabags for a 4 night stay. The blinds were broken which was a shame as the courtyard is beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful property. Location is excellent, 1 street back from the old port and in walking distance to all the major attractions. Breakfast was lovely.

AustriaWhat a surprise you have once you enter! It is amazingly calm in the middle of the hustle and bustle. You are very near the Vieux Port and a supermarket, the street is a bit dodgy but once you enter it is really a rare find!

RomaniaThe room did not have a bathroom door. We dealt with it but we did not expect this. The cleaning level was good, but could have been a bit better :). The accomodation has a lot of paintings and pictures on the walls, which were not necessary on our taste, but some others can really like this.
The matress was extremely comfortable. The host was really nice and friendly - we arrived pretty late and we did receive good instruction on how to get into the house. The location was great for what we needed. The breakfast did not have so many options, but it was good enough for us.

United KingdomNothing.
This guesthouse has exceptional architecture and interior design, which feels glamorous but also homely. A warm welcome from the lovely host makes you feel instantly relaxed and on holiday. Very close to the Old Port in a nice part of town close to Rue Sainte boutique restaurants, but very close to the bustling heart of the city. Quiet and tranquil, a surprising hidden gem.

United StatesThis is Not a hotel. It is a house which has only 3 rooms, and the owner was surly and went into the room while we were out. There were no photos of the entrance and now we know why. A very uninviting metal door. It looked like a prison .
spacious room

United StatesRoom was a bit cluttered, and parking was tight. Host was late arriving home so we had to wait about 20 minutes for her.
Location was perfect for us - in the heart of the city/old port area. Breakfast was good and just right for us as travelers on the go.

MaltaI really wanted to like this property. But 'beware' , it is up a steep street from Port area and around a couple of narrow streets . It is a major challenge for middle aged persons or anyone with mobility issues . Driving to the property is also difficult unless in a small car.You cannot stop outside . Despite advising the owner in advance of my wife's disability ,I was advised the room was on the ground floor . No Mention was made of the number of steep steps to get into the property. But in the room itself ,it had a split level to reach the 'bathroom' area. Two high steps without any support, open toilet , high( 30cms) to get into 'walk-in' shower. No curtains or doors for privacy . I think the owner was less then forthcoming with accurate description ,although she helped with taxis etc. We checked out early after one night .
Quiet house in back street( not charming).
