Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDuring the Covid lockdown, this was an opportunity for hotels to spruce up their properties. Hotel Liberty didn't take advantage of this opportunity. The place needed a good lick of paint, a hole in a wall should have been filled, and the shared bathroom was in need of some TLC.
It was a noisy street with many sirens. I later discovered there was a police station next door! Some people had left feedback about bedbugs. I did a complete check and no signs. In fact the bed and bedding looked quite recent. The hotel may have had a bed change... or at least in my room.

United KingdomThe place is dated and the bathrooms are narrow but with the price you couldn't expect it to be anything else
The place is really convenient and if all you want is cheap and cheerful then its a great place to rest your head, the view from the top floor is also pretty great

NetherlandsBed and shower were basic. Bed linen was thin. The hotel itself has a dated dark appearance, and at the same time if you're just looking to spend a night on a low budget, this might be a place to consider. There was an undistinguished smell in the hall way in front of the room.
Friendly staff that explained things well. If you're looking for a low budget hotel to spend a night close to Gare du Nord in Paris because of an early rise to catch a train, you could consider this hotel. (<10 min walking from Gare du Nord) The room is very basic, and has all that is needed.

NetherlandsThe biggest problem was bedbugs in the first room we had. My son was covered in itchy bites after one night in that room. They moved us to another room which was thankfully bedbug-free, but had a shower that barely worked.
The rooms are small but cosy, in a lively neighbourhood, with friendly personnel

United KingdomNo elevator and I was on the top floor, so not for the faint of hearts. My room wasn't ready when I arrived at 12noon; they gave me the keys to a room that hadn't been cleaned; I was asked to come back an hour later, it still wasn't clean, so they ended up giving me another room one floor up. The whole thing was a bit annoying as I wasted time. It gets cold in the room at night, couldn't quite figure out the heater. The street is noisy and curtains don't block the light so bring ear plugs and a sleeping mask.
All in all, the quality matches the price. The room was spacious, staff was friendly. Location is convenient and, as I said, it's cheap and you really just get what you pay for.

United KingdomFeels a bit old! Some plastering and painting needed. Bathroom provision is inadequate. One toilet and no shower on my floor. Walls thin, so it could be noisy, but it was ok when I was there. No breakfast! Coffee machine not working. It was ok for me, but I wouldn't take my wife there!
The price! Good location, close to bus and metro. Plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Room in need of a bit of refurbishment, but clean. Bed comfortable.

United KingdomThe lack of a lift caused me a problem as I had a heavy suitcase and they have a large spiral staircase. The room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. I knew to expect a shared bathroom, but it was a single toilet in a poorly-shaped small room that smelled bad. If there was a shower, I didn't see it or signage for it. If breakfast was included, I also wasn't given any information about it or see any signage for it.
The hotel was cheap for such a central location. I needed a place mid-way between two major train stations and this place was perfect for that.

United KingdomThe walls are very thin and so I could clearly hear the neighbours. Listen to Paul Simon's Lincoln Duncan - it expresses my experience well. The pillow was too large and didn't suit my neck (I should have asked for another one, so I take responsibility).
I thought the hotel was reasonably good value for what I presume one pays in Paris. The man who served me was helpful and courteous and spoke good English (and seemed happy to speak it). The hotel is well located for central Paris and for the Gard du Nord station.
