Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe disgusting smell from the wall and toilet. I got bitten by some insects on my face and body when I was in the room. I don’t think they are mosquitoes as it was swollen and very itchy.
The room is small as expected for the price .

GermanyThe kitchen was closed and there was no information about that on the page. Also the security needed to be given in cash not as a credit card reservation, again contradicting the description. Despite this inconveniences, even leaving a single small (<25L) backpack for 2-3 hours costed 5 EUR extra.
The room and bathroom was very clean and newly renovated. The location is very close to the main shopping street.

Germany- staff was rude - door to the shower had a big gap so you could just look in - room was really tiny (especially for three people) - kitchen closed at 8pm and you were not allowed in anymore - no wifi in the rooms, only in the kitchen - you need to pay 10€ a night to get AC even though it was really hot at night - the staff really made you feel not welcomed - the walls were extremely thin you could hear EVERYTHING (there were renovation in the house at the moment which was really annoying) - it really is the cheapest hostel in the area but for what you get it is still very expensive
- good location - kitchen - shower in room

SloveniaThe room isn't getting cleaned, the toilet has no seat, there's no soap or towels, the rooms are little, you need to pay caution for the key upon arrival 30€ in cash, they also charge 5€ to leave the bags there for a day, 10€ for ventilation, the sleep is poor due to bunkbeds moving if anyone moves, people coming in and leaving, street noise etc.
The bed was surprisingly quite comfy and the people were nice, the price of stay was the cheapest of that area but still too much for a place like that

AustraliaThe room was dirty, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. No AC so the window had to be left open. The sheets I was handed at check in were still wet when I unfolded.
The guy who checked me in was really lovely. Helped me carry my bag up the stairs because there isn’t a lift.

United StatesThe wifi didn't seem to work at all. The booking site simply said there was air conditioning, however, it was an additional 10 euros per night to use it. There was no hand soap in the bathroom. The morning staff was unfriendly and unpleasant. It was "clean enough."
Location was a convenient 6 minute walk to the metro station. The bed was comfortable. The afternoon staff was pleasant and helpful.

IrelandNo toilet in the private rooms. Shared toilet out in the hall. No sink in with the toilet so you have to go back to your room to wash your hands. Also have to pay €10 for air conditioning and a €30 deposit on the towels.
The location. Absolute fantastic. 8 minutes fork the train stations 8 minutes from the main square beach. Also very cheap for location

United KingdomBed was missing several slats, room was hot, was tired after not sleeping - guy who checked me out sent me back up 4 flights of stairs to get the towels from my room (which would have been fine I'd it's been mentioned when I'd checked in, rather than after I'd carried my bag down the stairs) - he just wanted an argument, rather than acknowledging how bad it was to have to sleep on a broken bed. Building also felt like a building site with bits of wood, buckets of plaster/paint and ladders taking up space all over the place.
Room was clean, guy who checked me in was nice, location is decently close to the main station

United Kingdomevery little noise echoed up the building, fight went on the first night we were there was very scary being females in a room with just one lock. staff said the front door would be closed at 10pm however was not felt unsafe. We came back to our room after being out for 7 hours to find it open (luckily nothing stolen) cleaning staff had “gone in” (nothing had been cleaned)

Location was very good. The staff very nice. And the room was not bad at all considering it was a hostel.. i would have given a good evaluation if it wasn't for the bedbugs.. unfortunally there was and I'm bitten all over... and it's so ichy it's driving me crazy... It the staff get rid of the bedbugs then it is a good value for money.
