Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe upkeep of this type of property must be a huge and costly undertaking hence some areas felt a little tired.
Beautiful 17th century property with lots of interesting history- the current owner is a family descendant of the original owner. It has many original features and a lovely garden. We had a very spacious room overlooking the garden.

United KingdomThe electric sockets in the room were loose and unreliable, a better shower cubicle wouldn’t go amiss, that said it’s an old house!
This is an old Manor House, an ancestral home so if you are looking for all the mod cons a modern hotel offers you will not want to stay here. Having said that if you want an experience of an historic home, a haven of peace in the commercial area of St Malo this is it. Bed was comfortable, ,lovely clean laundered bedding and the shower in the room was good. Breakfast was very French with lots of cake and pastry, though cheese and eggs were available. We really enjoyed it for the 2 nights we stayed at the end of a 16 day Airbnb tour. There are spa facilities which we didn’t have time to use but we enjoyed a stroll in the garden.

United KingdomBathroom had shower off taps, couldn't be hooked up high, and the bath was vey narrow and difficult to get into , so we didn't use shower at all . Other bathroom our friends had was better. Too far out of town to walk for an evening meal.
Very welcoming and helpful owner. Unique place, big rooms, lovely breakfast. Nice to have use of a sitting room in evenings. We didn't use spa facilities.

United KingdomArrived and rang bell but was not herd. Perhaps a bell/monitor to host would be handy. Host was very friendly and attentive when fount. Would have liked some milk in room when we arrived but not a big issue. Room was very good and clean we loved it.
Lovely old property good parking and so close to ferry terminal, was the perfect overnight stay to end our holiday before catching our ferry home. The house was beautiful outside and in and the gardens also. Breakfast was very good and set in a lovely room. Would definitely stay again and would make stay longer. Would definitely recommend.

A big surprise! Located in a busy area but you’d never know. Nice gardens and very amenable host. Very easy, and quick, drive to the ferry port.

United KingdomWe had a very short time for breakfast which we found disappointing. It was fine if you want cake and sliced bread for breakfast. We were hoping for croissants or french bread. We didn’t like being woken up at 2.45 with people talking loudly outside our room. They continued despite us asking them to stop. They did eventually. I’m assuming the owners didn’t hear them.
Room and comfort of the bed and bathroom and the swimming pool.

United Kingdomshower was a bit basic
Really lovely old building with individual rooms and nice antiques. A beautiful garden and lovely pool which was very welcome on a hot day. location looks bad when you first arrive but the road noise is nil in the Manoir. Benoit was a welcoming host with good English and the breakfast was excellent, only very minor point is the bathroom which was a shower head on the tap and no hook on the wall, but it’s quite nice to sit in the tub showering for a change. All in all one of the best hotels we have stayed in for years.

United KingdomNo problems at all other than a defective mains socket at the side of the bed which accommodates one of the bedside lights. We forgot to tell the owner on leaving so please pass this on to them. They were very helpful and I am sure they will repair it if told.

FranceNo comments - the stay was enjoyable. For the English, it may be helpful to have some milk in the room for tea and coffee.
The room was very pleasant and the bed was comfortable. Due to a very early start (I was taking the 6.30 am ferry to Jersey), I did not have any breakfast. But the facilities were as stated on the website. The history of the house and Richard Surcouf was interesting - and the intriguing family 'tree' was fun to read.

United KingdomThis historic manoir has been skilfully restored by the present owners and is a refreshing alternative to chain hotels. Furnishings and decor are in period - but not to the detriment of comfort and convenience, and our room, Marie-Pauline, was charming. Benoit was on hand to help with any requests. The gardens that surround the manoir give a sense of peace and being in the countryside and it is easy to forget you are near a city. The house is easily accessible from the main roads and close to the Carrefour supermarket/petrol (also 10 minutes by car to the ferry terminal) but you can also easily get to the centre of Saint-Malo on the No.1 bus that stops just nearby.

FranceThere were no power outlets in the rooms. We had to unplug the lamps and the TV in order to recharge our phones. Other than that, no complaints from us.
It was a very unusual experience. I've never been in a place like that before. It's a 17th-century manor that has been transformed into a boarding place, and it is a stunning property. It felt like going back in time. The garden was splendid, and we got to sleep in total silence and darkness, which we appreciated. No cars, no traffic, just the sound of birds when we woke up. We stayed in a duplex, and the room upstairs was furnished in Jules Vernes style, which was an absolute delight to my teenage children. We also had books in the room. Downstairs in the family room turned dining room, there were antique board games. I'm sorry that it was too cold to use the pool. Maybe next time.
