Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere was a problem with the heat not working in our room and our laundry was returned a day late. The staff person who fixed the heat was very competent and apologetic. We didn’t love the Bistro food.
The ambience and the staff were excellent.

FranceThe lighting was extremely dim in the main room. 25€ is somewhat expensive as a surcharge for a small dog.

United KingdomThey have issues with room 7 where we stayed. At night when you leave your room, no lights come on in the hall way, there are no light switches. You have to walk down five steps of the stairs before the light comes on and you are able to find your key and lock the door. You can obviously use your phone torch but this is not good. The room lightng was designed to create a mood. We needed light to be able to see things! Gregory very kindly brought two extra lights into our room but these were also mood lights and didn't make a difference. These comments relate to our room only. Other rooms had better hall lights. But this was our only complaint. Everything else was great.
Everything except the lighting. Staff attention. Location.

United KingdomAll the water from the taps came out hot, no cold water. Lighting in bedroom was too dark. Because of the pedestrian location, the taxi had to drop us round the corner. No lifts, so not suitable for less mobile guests. Restaurant not open on Sunday.
Lovely room, quaint hotel in a central location. Food in the Bistro restaurant. Nice served breakfast, choice of cooked food brought to the table. Delightful pastries.

Hong KongWe had an amazing time at Margaret. The staff were brilliant and the rooms were fantastic. We were lucky to be upgraded to suites which was so appreciated. Special mention to Chef Viou who spoiled us constantly. It was a pleasure to get to know her and the Margaret team and we will be back for sure. Plus Nîmes is a great town.

AustraliaThe shower wasn’t very powerful - most of the time it was dribbling out with some spurts of water every 10 seconds or so, although the water was nice and hot. No lift.
Beautiful old hotel that has been restored to perfection. The location was fantastic and the room was huge. Dinner at Gigi’s was a delight and the breakfast was huge! The bathroom had face cloths/washers which you rarely find in European hotels.

United KingdomThe clearer could give more attention in detail, there was used contact lenses on the floor when we checked in and still there when we checked out. One of the rope had yellow stains which should not provided to customer. That'd mean the clearer didn't take as much attention as it should but it is relatively small issue. The other thing is the room we stayed(family room) seem news refurnished and the smell is really strong. If you are as sensitive as me or worse then not the best choice.
Location is great to reach all sites by foot. Staff are friendly and able to help when they can.

United KingdomEverything! The staff are amazing, so helpful, so friendly and always professional. A special thank you to Luna and Aya for making our 40th wedding anniversary so special! From the amazing upgraded room, to your suggestions of places to visit, to the pastries, the fresh fruit and a special thank you to Luna, who carried our luggage up the stairs!! Although the restaurants were not open on our anniversary, we did eat at GIGI and everything was beautiful. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants close by and an amazing indoor food and drink market.

AustraliaIt was perfect.
This hotel was one of the loveliest I've ever stayed in. The building, a seventeenth century grand house) has been sympathetically adapted - no beige here! The staff were delightful. We have to mention Liz (Leese) who was so welcoming, friendly and have us great recommendations. The room was gorgeous. We were upgraded but, looking at the building, I imagine all rooms would be wonderful. The town itself has the most amazing history from Roman times and, along with that, the mediaeval centre is beautifully preserved. We were there in a huge heatwave but the communication of trees and shade made it seem much cooler than the official temperature. We ate at Rouge which had been awarded a Michelin Star. The food was amazing and, again, the staff were lovely. Thanks for guiding us through the meal Thomas. The whole experience in Nimes was magical.
