Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Wonderful location, comfy beds, great view across the old port from the bar and bedrooms, helpful and kind staff, and a high quality generous breakfast with local produce - a great place to stay in Marseille!

United StatesLiterally had to try to think of something not to like. Okay I found two small things....the facial tissues in the bathroom are very stiff and scratchy, and some of the carpets in the common areas have some stains and could use a deep clean, but yeah, that's it. HA! This hotel and staff are wonderful!
Fast, simple check-in. Staff very attentive and friendly. Room was luxurious, beautiful, and had nice amenities like coffee maker, hot tea kettle, selection of coffees and teas, refrigerator, and a wonderful bed and linens. Let's talk about the full size L'Occitane products for use...so delicious! And speaking of delicious, the room service was great - very fresh caesar salad. Nice bar with cheap drinks. And the location, location, location. This was a WONDERFUL FIND at a reasonable price, worth every penny. LOVED my experience here - which was my first time in Marseille, hopefully not the last.

United StatesJust a little worn out everywhere, from the fixtures, flooring to. the linens. However it wasn’t awful and the price reflected the condition. A good value over.
Excellent location and great staff. Eveything was a little worn, but still serviceable. Good breakfast available for extra charge.

United KingdomPillows were not comfortable. Window in the bedroom did not open so was not very airy at night. Carpet was stained.
Location was great, very close to all main sites and good restaurants but still pretty quiet in the room. View from the room was superb and we ate breakfast on the balcony in the sunshine looking over the old harbour. Nice to have a suite, with seperate bedroom and sitting room as we were staying for 5 nights and not using the room just to sleep. Large bathroom with bath and seperate shower.

United StatesThe pillows, as with all of the places we have been in France, are too big and hard. They were able to come up with a few smaller softer pillows for us, though. While the windows do curb the noise to the port, mostly, the walls are super thin! We were kept up by our neighbors partying and laughing most of the night.
This is a nice hotel and we had a wonderful view. Super hot water was a bonus with the nice big tub. Noise from the outside was good except for ambulances & the marching band that was playing on the port Sunday morning.

SingaporeBed was a little lumpy but not terrible. Also, overall the furnishings are on the more antique side with doors and cupboards creaking a little but it’s really part of the Vieux Port charm.
The staff were really friendly. Special mention to the reception personnel on the night shift for our Dec 13 2021 check in. Room was surprisingly big for a small, old town type of accommodation. It was also really clean. They topped up our Nespresso capsules, teas and 4 bottles of water (including sparkling) every day of our stay. We especially adored the bedroom slippers provided. Location was also perfect, great view of the port and its right next to the metro station and tons of cafes.

TunisiaThese are tiny details :) but I would have like a visible room service menu (i saw the QR code on my way to leave :(. A small pillow to rest your back while seated in the chair.
THE VIEW. The staff from the lobby, very courteous and efficient. The quality of the toiletries. The comfy bed. The noise insulation. Plus, I was able to check in at 11am (and check out 1 hour after checkout time), which was very appreciated. I will definitely go back next time I visit Marseille.

United StatesRight in the heart of the Old Port, with easy access to the metro, and with lots of shops, restaurants, and sights within walking distance, the Grand Hôtel Beauvau made a great place to explore Marseille from. The breakfast was excellent, featuring a variety of tasty options whether you like a sweet breakfast or a savory one. There was also a table of locally sourced items, that were all delicious. The staff was courteous and helpful. The views were amazing. Truly a wonderful stay.

The view is just insane. I spent most of my time sitting at the window side, looking at ferries arriving to the old sea port. The sky looks magnificent around the sunset time so I recommend watching it at some point of your stay. I would go back just for the view at some point.
