Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe location was good and easily accessible through Montparnasse and Edgar Quinet Metro stations. The room for 4 people was large, as well as the bathroom. The elevator and stairs are very narrow but it wasn't a big issue.

United KingdomBreakfast option was in room, I didn't take breakfast as there are plenty of options just outside the door.
Excellent location in Montparnasse for using metro and walking to catacombs and generally in that area. Staff were excellent, one guy actually sketched my portrait (from photo), seems like an hobby for him. Lovely view across cafes and market etc.

AustraliaThe only thing we found was the metro stations can be a bit of a rabbit warren with unclear signage, but I guess if you use it enough you'd get the hang of it.. but nothing to do with the hotel of course. As stated above there's no floor drain in the bathroom so if you flood the bath or the basin, there's nowhere for the water to go..but I suspect that might be a 'France' thing.. as with so many old buildings - don't think it factors into the building code!?
Great area , with lots of cafes and restaurants at our door. Comfortable small room at a reasonable price for two people.. definitely wouldn't fit a third in the room we had. Good size bathroom - but no floor drain, so can't go splashing about in the bath!😄 It was a quiet area at night once the cafes finished. Markets twice a week right across the road - so they start early, but apart from that, the area doesn't really get going til about 8.30-9am. Metro station right across the road. Staff are friendly and obliging. We would be happy to stay there again.

United StatesThe shower was made for a short person. I am 6.1 and could not wash my hair unless I was crouching down. Also our room was on the 4th floor, and the stairway was pretty dangerous (circular and steep). The banisters felt very unstable and the carpeting was covered with plastic, making it somewhat slippery. If there was one thing that I really disliked about this hotel it would be design and the condition of the stairway.
The location was great. Easy access to multiple metro lines, with most attractions accessible within a 10-15 min ride. There were also plenty of restaurants around. Rooms were clean and the bathroom in the family room was very spacious.

New ZealandVery expensive for what is a very old hotel in need of an upgrade and with no basic facilities such as tea/coffee making in the room. Room was very small and shower cubicle was like standing upright in a box.
Location was great if you need to be near the train station which we did. Plenty of restaurants to choose from right on the door step. We walked to the Eiffel Tower and back.

United StatesThe air conditioner struggled to keep the room as cool as we wanted it to be. (It was also exceptionally hot...not something they have any control over)
We had a room on their top floor which helped reduce the noise from the active cafés below. The Metro was right across the street. There is a terrific café on the ground floor and the hotel also offers to deliver a great breakfast to your room. Each staff member we spoke to at the front desk was friendly and helpful.

CanadaThe rooms are very small and the carpet is dark in color. The windows need to have better sound insulation as there are many folks who keep talking loud in the streets below.
