The 2 reception staff were lovely on arrival at 1.30pm. Our room was not ready but they were helpful and showed us where we could visit in the town centre. When we arrived back at 3.30pm to check-in there was another reception staff member who wasn't quite do helpful and was a little rude. The restaurant food was beautiful and staff worked tirelessly to serve guests.

I booked this hotel on route they took a holding charge against my debit card then when we came to leave they had me paying again so I have 2 payments off my card the receptionist said it would be paid back in a few days which hasn’t happened yet it’s not good enough it would put us off staying there again and make me more wary when booking in future I think booking.com should look into this hotels payment procedures we use booking. com all the time and this has never happened before 😡

Easy check in and check out, including the mandatory covid rules, with a helpful person on reception. The room was quiet, a good size, and the bed comfortable, even though there wasn't much space or surfaces to put things down. It was pouring with rain so we ate in the hotel restaurant, and were glad we did - it was busy and lively, and the food was very good. Breakfast was a more typical buffet, but very nice food.

A few important details were missed in the remodel which could have improved the room. - there are not individually controlled lights for each side of the bed so you have either all lights on or none. - the toilet was installed in a corner right next to the heated towel bar so you have to sit a bit sideways on the toilet to fit your knees - the climate control was installed in the room rather than the entryway and has a super bright light when on. I had to cover it with a sock so we could sleep. - in the closet the hanging bar was installed right above a shelf so there isn’t space to actually hang anything - the only mirror is in the bathroom so no opportunity for one person to get ready while the other is showering or using the toilet. - no hooks for towels or to put a coat. The heated towel rack is quite small, next to the toilet and close to the ground so not very useful. Breakfast was decent but could have included a few more options, more than one kind of cheese.

The hotel has been recently renovated and looks very clean and modern. The rooms are very small but the updates are nice quality. The shower is warm and powerful, bed comfortable and quiet rooms. Having parking is a big plus as we had a car full of our traveling stuff and didn’t feel comfortable parking on the street.

Pokey "Comfort" room with no view. Small spa area. Really poor breakfast. Chalon is no longer a pleasant place to visit, with a large migrant population that could make a single female feel uncomfortable. I'm not visiting Chalon-sur-Saone again.

Dinner in hotel's Le Terminus restaurant was good. Secure parking.

The manageress in the restaurant was exceedingly rude when we arrived at 18.45 for a drink before dinner, refusing to serve us as she was eating her meal and said the restaurant opened at 19.00 h so please wait elsewhere. We left and did not return.

Unhelpfulness of staff. Despite very hot weather, we were told there was no air con and that there were no fans available. There was no room in the restaurant for dinner, we were told we should have booked and that we had been sent an email to that effect. (That email was sent that same evening). Meanwhile there was a restaurant quite nearby and no, she couldn’t phone for us to reserve a table. I have a mobility problem and use crutches, this restaurant was too far for me to walk, so my husband had to unpack the car to assemble my wheelchair. I’m glad we went out for dinner, though, good food, lovely staff and air con! A hotel with all its pretensions should have better trained staff, have working air con (or reasonable substitute in the event of a breakdown) and have a manager on site to deal with concerns. I was told there was no one available. We won’t be returning.

There was always something wrong. The tiny bedroom I had had a hole in the bathroom door where I assume a hook had been, but it meant there was nowhere to hang anything. The bed was badly made; lots of sheet tucked in at the bottom and barely any to go over the head end of the mattress. The duvet wasn’t completely in its cover so I more-or-less made the bed again. In my husband’s room the loo was so small he had to sit sideways on it.

Our initial room was lovely, room 317, but was spoiled by having a blocked sink. A chap came to fix it but couldn’t so we were then given 2 TINY rooms, that were fortunately, next to each other. The staff were kind and tried to help but their lack of English and our lack of French, did not help.

The sauna working time could be better, longer more convenient for the quests. They need to improve the quality of the breakfast. Sofa in the breakfast place was dirty.
