Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNothing.
Right in the heart of the old town in an ancient building, but beautifully renovated and modernised. Very quiet, even though it is on a popular square. Close the restaurants and to an overnight car park.

CanadaLeaving was so sad
The location of Le Porsche de Sarlat was amazing - a great little square that was generally quiet, The ground floor flat we had was well equipped, cozy and very comfortable. It had a well fitted kitchen and a very comfortable bed. It was close to all the great features of the Medieval town of Sarlat. For the people who have complained about having to take out your own garbage, and limited supplies like toilet paper. - these are small insignificant issues compared to the comfort and location of the surrounding. In addition coming by car is a breeze as there is free parking in a lot by the park or you can park for free for one hour in the lot outside the old city. No issue wheeling luggage to the flat. It was very quiet at night and a joy to get up in the morning and have breakfast in the little garden.

United StatesThis is a general comment which has applied to each place we have stayed on our trip, without exception. No where where it is stated “the host will greet you” has it ever happened, with one exception. In fact, we never met the host in those places. When booking, the only filter I entered was parking, but this is not really a filter, since parking was an enormous hassle everywhere, with 2 exceptions. Without going into details, there was great difficulty in unloading bags and obtaining a parking space. I do not blame the property, but all booking.com sites should be more forthcoming about the actual parking situation.
Spacious, in historic building. Modern conveniences. Adequate washing facilities. Directly next to cathedral and restaurants. Clean and comfortable.

AustraliaThe property (for our 5 night stay) only provided very limited toilet paper and dishwasher tablets. We were told before arriving we would have one of each but were expected (rightly) to leave the apartment clean. For 5 nights 1 roll of toilet paper was insufficient and 1 table for the dishes same. We had to buy extra for both and bringing your own dishwashing tablets for a provided dishwasher (when travelling for extended time) was a little inconvenient and I thought this a little cheap given the expense of the accommodation
The location of this apartment was the draw card here as it was a lovely square in the central part of that old town. Generally quiet and very convenient with a grocery store within a couple of minutes walk At the back of the main church so the bells did chime from 7am onwards but this wasn’t invasive. No parking in the old city but free parking available outside only a short walk away.

FranceThe only cause for concern was the fact there were several large bags of laundry material seemingly stored at the foot of the staircase which was the only means of egress for the occupants of the apartments. It's possible that this is permitted but I was surprised to find flammable material which, if ignited, might have rendered the staircase impassable. A fire extinguisher was provided on the wall but that might have been difficult to access in a smoke-filled environment.
The location was excellent - situated in the medieval city and very close to all the amenities and a large car park. The host was very welcoming and helpful providing clear information which made accessing, using and leaving the property trouble free. The apartment was as described save for a missing item which was replaced at the first opportunity when the host was made aware.

AustraliaWifi did not work for the first two days. Fault was with the service provider not the owner but still inconvenient. Once it was working again the owner kindly left us a note on the door advising this. Water in the shower was not really warm enough for the cooler weather.
Superb location in the heart of the old town. Facing a lovely square and backing onto the cathedral. Loved hearing the church bells. The apartment was very clean, bed and pillows exceedingly comfortable, fluffy towels, and the little courtyard was lovely. It had a table and two chairs for eating and two loungers for relaxing. Nice to have a washing machine. Although we didn't use it, it is also a dryer.

Great location in the centre of the old town close to all amenities. We stayed at the beginning of October but inspite of it being the end of the summer season there were still plenty of people around.

South AfricaI would have liked coffee making faciities as well as two day's supply of coffee. And I would have liked the host to reply to our questions about the area and restaurants, even if only to say that he could not help. And a hair dryer would be great!
