Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOur only disappointment was that the bicycles were not usable. They either had flat tires, popped tires, or the seats were not adjustable to fit different heights and frames. We were looking forward to cycling around the region.
Perfect location for visiting the region. Our hosts were friendly and provided good suggestions of things to do.

AustraliaKitchen wasn't clean. Lounge needed repair, wasn't comfortable as base was broken. Cave bedroom is unique but bed is makeshift on brick blocks. Location is not convenient distance to restaurants, need car. Outside area was untidy and unclean (not like photos). The outside table near bbq had not been cleaned for a long time so didn't use. General lack of cleaning eg glasses were dusty, crumbs and hair in cutlery drawer, uncleaned sandwich toaster maker with crumbs and grease, greasy spice bottles near cooktop need cleaning, dirty sliding door tracks, generally dusty.
Location to chateau is walkable. Bathrooms were clean. House was spacious. Large bedrooms.

United StatesThe only negative I can think of is that some people might not like the smell of the cave. The humidity was perfect as was the temperature. I love caves and was fully expecting the slight musty odor. If this isn’t to your liking there are other gites for rent on the same property which are also beautifully decorated.
The location was perfect for visiting the Loire valley. I loved the how unique and quiet the property was. The “cave” supplied everything we needed. The owner was easy to contact and was able to direct us to the property by phone upon arrival.

AustraliaThe house was comfortable, spacious and decorated with many traditional french pieces which added to the experience. There were so many rooms that we could all spread out a bit. We loved taking the bikes out and exploring the nearby countryside, and hiring canoes nearby and see the chateau from the water. Our host was generous and caring.

United KingdomMy husband is very tall the bed was small and had a foot board which was quite uncomfortable even for me. There was a barbecue which was great but no tools to cook with. We bought our own from Carrefour but would have been better to provide. Sofa bed looked a bit grotty luckily didn’t need to use. Otherwise all good would recommend
Cute little house recently renovated quirky antique furnishings. 5 minutes drive to Chenanceau and close to lots of other amazing Loire chateaus and pretty villages and towns. Two bedrooms with twin beds in one room so great for families. Owner met us on arrival really friendly and nice

New ZealandThe kitchen utensils, pretty poor for a long stay. If you don't want to cook then it's fine! At least a colender would be awesome.
Super close to the chateaux to visit. Great location. Cave bedrooms are amazing!

The property was absolutely delightful. The rooms are large with old world charm and luxury. The owner contacted is also a lovely lady and nothing was too much trouble. Extremly friendly and helpful. The property is just five minutes from the most amazing river chateau… Chateau de Chenonceau. We brought our bikes, bur we need not as there were nine bikes for use in one of the owners sheds that she said were available to use free. The scenery around the Loire is fantastic. The riverside town of Ambroise is also just a fifteen minute drive. There you can visit the house of Leonardo da Vinic. There are the most scenic riverside cycle rides in almost every direction. Our seven night stay was very special. A superb place to stay and a definite 10 out of 10 for us.

United KingdomCave life comes with its twists, there is high humidity in the cave areas ie where you sleep, dehumidifiers need to always be on, the cave does not need àir conditioning as the cave temperature is approximately 16 to 18 degrees which is good in the summer when we were here but iy looks like there is adequate heating for in the winter. For a family of 4 the kitchen equipment is lacking ie cereal bowls etc but many place we have stayed seem to having something basic and essential missing.
The location is great the cave house is amazing, you really feel like you are in something special and the more modern facilities make things feel that much more comfortable. Good wifi and the bathroom was great. The location in civray de tourain was good for chenonceau and amboise etc and the bikes available are also a good variety

United StatesThis property is not for anyone who isn't 100% mobile... lots of tricky stairs to get to the front door. Even our superstar dad lugging suitcases up found them tricky. Within the unit, there is a spiral staircase to get from ground floor to bedrooms. Not a dealbreaker AT ALL for us, but anyone with mobility issues should be aware. Not on a main street or square, so strolling right out your door to activities wasn't great. But, our main activities were Chenonceau and Vouvray wine tour, and both of these were just minutes away by car, so the location worked very well for us.
Our host Naomi was a delight. Once I booked through booking.com, she personally emailed me with detailed instructions on how to find the property, get keys, etc. During our two night stay, she was very easy to contact and we texted back and forth several times during stay. She even left us a bottle of wine and some of her homemade mirabelle confiture!! It was a quiet rural area that was lovely to come home to at night! We loved the amount of space in this "Dove" unit! Our family of 4 (with 2 adult children!) had plenty of room to spread out. A large living/dining/kitchen room at ground level with a nice large window, working wood fireplace, long counter kitchen with all the supplies you could need, a huge dining table, plenty of seating! The unit also had a large bathroom (with both a bathtub and shower!). There were toiletries provided and adorable towels with songbirds on them as well! The upstairs had 2 bedrooms with plenty of room. One had a skylight through which we could see the stars! Our adult son slept on the futon in the downstairs room and said it was very comfortable! The outside patio had seating and was adorable! I would definitely stay here again! *Restaurant au Tableau in nearby Blere was a wonderful find! We have a delicious dinner here! (5 minutes away from Songbird Sanctuary!)
