Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe location is beside the Notre Dame Basilica which is up a very steep hill which was difficult with suitcases. The no. 60 bus stops very close but it stops about 7pm in the evening.
Our host Teresa was very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us. The room had everything we needed and more. It was spotlessly clean. Only a 10 minute walk to the Vieux Port.

United KingdomAs others mentioned, the flat is at the end of an uphill street so if you have a suitcase and would rather Not pull it up by yourself, you better trust Teresa's advice on how to get there rather than Citymapper. There is a bus stop about 50m from the flat, so it's quite convenient even if you have special mobility needs.
This is a lovely apartment with all you need for a few days in Marseille. It was spotless clean, the beds were very comfortable and I had all I needed, included a coffee maker and some teabags. Teresa is the loveliest host you can imagine. Very welcoming and incredibly helpful, she will give you tips for Marseille and the neighbouring villages. She was an absolute star in helping me recover my keys! The flat is located a few minutes from Notre Dame de la Garde, so if you want to see an amazing sunset over the city and the bay, you just have to walk 5 minutes. I will definitely be back.

SwedenThe bed sheet and pillows had a strange smell that I did not like, possibly due to perfume free detergent which is a good thing. The shower curtain is a bit too short and so water does not stay in the drain area but the floor towel is enough to absorb it.
The host is one of the best person I have ever met. Despite my late check in due to train delays, the host was kind enough to give me a great introduction to the hiking areas around Cassis and Marseille which was the highlight of my stay. You have everything you need in this vintage style room and kitchen and with modern renovated bathroom.

IrelandThe apartment is up a steep hill but once we figured out the bus, it was fine and it was also really close to go and watch the sunset
We had a fantastic stay in this apartment, our host was lovely and very accommodating, she let us check in early and even got us some beers to welcome us to Marseille, she gave us lots of recommendations about restaurants, different areas to check out and the best ways to get around the city. The apartment had everything we needed and everything was easy to use.

Ireland-
I enjoyed a five day stay, in February ,at this lovely, cosy apartment. The apartment was very clean, peaceful, bed very comfortable , the kitchen was well stocked with utensils. It has a fab location on the doorstep of Notre Dame de La Garde . Great place for watching sunsets and a picnic, above the city ! It's a 15min walk right down to the Vieux Port or bus 60, which goes up and down every 15 minutes and takes just 5 minutes to Vieux Port ! Vauban ,5 minutes away, has shops and restaurants.

United KingdomNot a huge problem for us, but anyone reading: beware the street the property is on is STEEP. Only reason I’m pointing it out here is I can easily see some people struggling with the gradient.
Excellent location, practically on the doorstep of a major attraction and also quite close to several tourist hotspots. Comfortable apartment with everything you would expect to have available. Very helpful and friendly host. Good value for money.

United KingdomIt is important to be aware that the climb up to the apartment from the city is really steep. We live in the Netherlands, so okay I admit that we are used to everything being very flat, but this really was a steep hill, and you will need to make the journey down and (crucially) UP to anything you want to do in Marseille. Because of this it would not be suitable for someone less fit or less mobile, or with a toddler, in my opinion, unless they come from a very hilly place and are used to it.
Lovely studio. Everything was clean and nice, and the host was very welcoming. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. The shower was decent. I liked the location in the sense that it was a short walk to the harbour. The street was quiet at night, too, which was great. The apartment complex was generally very quiet too - when we stayed there was a bit of DIY work going on next door, but this was no big deal - it was just ordinary drilling of someone in their own home putting up shelves or whatever.

AustraliaThe shower definitely needs a much longer shower curtain to prevent water spillage. Drainage for the shower needs to be improved. A few more mugs and plates would be useful. As mentioned above, the position of the tv is a bit awkward for actually watching tv as it can only be watched either from the dining table or bed and neither work with the current positioning of the tv. With a few minor changes the apartment could be much better.
Communication with the owner in the lead up to our stay was good and she met us at the appointed time on arrival (in fact we were a bit late arriving and she was so nice about it). As others have mentioned, the apartment is located at the top of a fairly steep hill. We were able to walk up to it pretty easily from the old port even though we are not young. However if you do have mobility issues then you probably should consider staying somewhere much closer to the old port. We liked the fact the apartment is located in an area where the everyday residents of Marseille live. However it was quiet after 10 pm. The kitchen is separate but we did not spend much time in it. A few more plates and cups would be useful. Although the photos show it, you need to aware that while there is a table and chairs for seating, there is no separate couch/sofa. There is Netflix available but the position of the tv is a bit awkward so not easy to watch it. The apartment, although small, was quite charming. We loved being able to open the windows without worrying about security and without having any cigarette smoke come in.
