Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaFantastic location in a beautiful building and brilliant little hill town. We had booked the smaller rooms as the hotel is quite expensive but we’re upgraded when we arrived as the place was not full. Fantastic to be in these very generous rooms on the first floor. Breakfast was delicious and extremely good value.

FranceNot their fault but it was tiresome that parking was 10 minutes away.
A beautiful old house in a splendid position. Excellent breakfast eaten on lovely terrace. The owner had recently put a handrail by tricky steps which was a thoughtful touch.

GermanyThe access by car is somehow complicated because you have to drive through the main street (which is officially blocked for traffic, so you don't dare) and to surmount several automatic pillars with help or codes to access the parking lot. The instructions we got in advance were not throughout intelligible, but with the on site help by the hotel personnel everything worked out fine.
The hotel is situated in a very ancient building close to the cathedral. The ladies who run it told us that it was built in the 17th century by the land suveyor of "the king". It has been restored carfully and with excellent taste, modern and minimalistic, with everything you need and very functional. Since it is an ancient building, the premises are somehow narrow, but very scenic. Our room was beautiful, the bathroom top, the breakfast was excellent, the style of care personal and attentive. We forgot our Ipad there, they sent it back to us (to Germany) within a week. They also organized a reservation for dinner for us in a nearby restaurant which was very good. Vézelay is a crazy place. It is hyped up in every tourist guide on the Bourgogne you can find, but it is actually a one street village on the top of a mountain whose only attraction is an oversized cathedral on the Way of St. James, and some tourist shops for decorative arts (if you like that). Rural exodus is unmistakable, there are several buildings for sale, and the ladies who run the hotel told us that the village has only 70 regular inhabitants left, the rest are pilgrims and tourists. We only stayed for one night, passing through on our way back home, and for us it was perfect as it was. The hotel is great, very recommendable, the surrounding landscape is beautiful and possibly nice to explore wandering (we didn't try). Vézelay also seems to be a hot spot for pilgrims who find company there.

United StatesNo deadlock on the door, resulting in elderly drunk and/or discombobulated guests entering my room at 2-3 a.m. I should have locked it with the key, but not something I’m used to having to do. The beautiful cathedral is almost next door, so you will be wakened by the bells bright and early. It’s worth it.
Great location, near top of the hill, walking distance to everything. The staff was delightful, got restaurant reservations and helped with finding a place after my next reservation unexpectedly cancelled.

United KingdomNothing it was wonderful
Beautiful old property in a wonderful village. Friendly staff who booked a local restaurant for us which was fantastic -SY Terrace. Rooms are authentic and tasteful with comfortable beds. Nice breakfast although a little pricey. Tricky to find initially due to the no entry signs but these do not apply in some areas if you are staying at the hotel.

Hotel is a lovely country inn with charming rooms, although a bit on the small side. Very welcoming staff who was in contact prior to arrival to facilitate finding the hotel location in a small village with one way streets. Arranged for dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant prior to arrival.

NetherlandsNothing, I would highly recommend this hotel!
The hotel is located in a quiet area in a quiet, pictoresque village. It has a very atmospheric front yard where breakfast can be taken. We had the three-bed-bedroom which was spacious and comfortable. The room had airconditioning which the staff recommended to turn on for an hour before bedtime which worked wonders. There are also plenty of windows. Beds were comfortable. Shower in a bath but good water pressure. Breakfast was varied and tasty. Staff very helpful and friendly. Car needs to be parked in a parking lot a couple of minutes walking away but luggage can be offloaded in front of hotel.
