Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandGenerally the apartment has the feeling that many guests have stayed there. But at the same time generally everything that matters is clean & working, with some exceptions. The property has a policy to take a EUR 500 cash deposit on arrival, which is listed in the conditions & as such is not a problem. But what is a problem is, there are so many already broken/damaged things that on departure the agent can think there is some new damage & want to discuss it, which is what happened to us. On arrival the agent, Andrea, had told us about the broken shower door, and a few similar things. And we reported some things on the first day that we found ourselves, like the sink blocked & unusable in the upstairs toilet/washroom. So on departure when he said he thinks we may have scratched the bedroom wooden floor (which may in fact be plastic), no-one could see or remember if it was new damage or existing. We walked around looking at the dozens/hundreds of other broken things, like the microwave display, dirty walls by the bed, kitchen walls damaged, table falling apart, etc, wondering if there might be something else that was new damage by us. Andrea understood such a problem can only be solved by photographing on arrival every single wall, floor, ceiling, corner, item & detail for comparison. He agreed there was no need for us to pay anything. So to be clear the agent, Andrea, is a nice guy in a difficult position between the guests & the owners. The cash deposit policy for such a heavily used apartment is simply going to lead to misunderstandings.
This 3BR apartment has some very nice characteristics, like a master bedroom with a view towards Monaco and balcony, an outside seating area by the pool & being in a quiet residential area. The property is on a small, quiet road in the town, which is built on a hillside around the bay. The road leads to the train station, some 100m away & is not a through road. The property has a private parking space some 15m up the road. There are no shops nearby. The apartment is built into the hillside & has two floors, so the south side is facing the sea & two of the upstairs bedrooms are at the garden level on the opposite side & have windows to the small garden. The apartment is part of a larger house, which has a separate entrance. From the front gate at the street, there's a path leading to steps down to the apartment & small pool. On the way, there's also a possibility to access the master bedroom balcony & master bedroom, which is convenient for bringing in bags & cases without going down the stairs then back up inside the apartment. Entering the apartment there's a compact living area, with a sofa, TV, eating area & small kitchen. There's also a shower/WC. Relatively compact stairs lead up & around to the three upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed, an ensuite shower/WC with a window & a south facing balcony, which has a view along the coast to Monaco. A second bedroom has a double bed & window to the garden path, which I assume is shared with the other apartments in the house. The third bedroom has a single bed, which has a bed on wheels underneath it, and a window to the garden path. The toilet/washroom shared by these two bedrooms has no windows. Generally the area feels safe, but the apartment has a metal gate on its pool side door & bars on some windows. The bedrooms have shutters.

We liked its location, the facilities, the cleanliness and the pool. It is very close to the railway station for easy access to other parts of the Côte d’Azur. There are two very pleasant beaches within 5-7 minutes walking distance. There are beautiful views and excellent outside seating areas. We would definitely consider staying there again. I was pleased with the prompt replies I received and the fact that they did everything necessary for us to have a wonderful stay, after we had been let down with a previous booking reservation and confirmed on this site.
