How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The only thing for me is the bathroom was a tad tight for space. But then I am a larger person and it certainly wouldn’t stop me from staying again.
We loved that this property had everything a normal home would have from towels and extra pillows to tea/coffee/sugar, all the utensils you could possibly want. And nice touches like bottles of water in the fridge with ice, A large screen tv with all the usual streaming services,comfy sofas. The staff were very helpful and polite.

Lovely, clean, small but well equipped apartment in Southsea. Everything you needed for a short break. Quiet street. Perfect location, 15 mins walk from Fratton train station. An excellent base for visiting my daughter who is at the University. Excellent communication from the hosts, would happily book again.

Only slight grumble, usually take toilet rolls with us but forgot this time and there was only half a toilet roll left. Would have been good to have a spare 😊
Good facilities. Great location for visiting our son who's at Uni there. Not too far to walk to Gunwharf quays

The shower did not work at all. There was no water pressure. Fortunately the plug in the bath worked and we could run a bath

Lovely home from home self contained private entranced apartment. Easy parking and great permit. Quiet and central to attractions. Very good price and will definitely visit and stay here again.

Nicely decorated apartment and spacious. Great contact and prompt response from the host who was on hand to assist if needed. The parking permit was greatly appreciated. As and when we return we will definitely book again.

Nothing, there were lots of noisy people outside and cars blaring music but it wasn’t connected to the apartment in any way, just a bit annoying.

The apartment was clean and the location was great 12 minutes walk to the shopping centre and 5min drive. The area is very quiet and peaceful. Lots of parking and I was given a parking permit by Daz and she helped me fill it out over the phone. Me and my children loved it. We will definitely book the apartment again next time we go to Portsmouth.

The apartment was absolutely fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to book the accommodation again in the future if needed. It was spotless and had everything you needed for a stay of any length. 10 out of 10 😊😊 Host was brilliant and answered all our questions very promptly and was a lovely person. Everything was perfect in every way 😊😊

Toilet too small no space for bigger person to maneuver but would definitely go back.
The apartment was nice and clean. We did not have to buy supplies (tea, coffee, sugar, tea and cleaning supplies, shower gel etc). Nice location close to town and the seafront plus a shop nearby.

Bathroom is modern but a little on the small side.
35B is a beautiful apartment in Southsea and was perfect for our needs. Handy, comfortable, quiet and the owner provided car parking tickets for excellent on-street parking for every day of our stay, mostly right outside the door. There is everything that we needed for our stay in the apartment and then some - washing machine and top of the range smart TV in the sitting room. This apartment is in lovely part of Southsea and was very quiet in the evening.
