Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom5pm check in was very late, and in January it is dark so torch needed to find the alley way/door. There was no freezer compartment in the fridge which would have been useful. The floors hadn't been swept when we arrived, nor could I find a brush to sweep up after ourselves, and the microwave hadn't been cleaned.
Lovely location, lovely cottage, tastefully decorated. Well equipped kitchen, comfy bed, good heating. Useful sensor light at the back.

United KingdomI hadn’t realised the staircase was so narrow, steep and twisty. My mother is 87! She’s fortunately quite fit and could manage the stairs, but did so very cautiously. It would have been useful to have had a description of the stairs before the visit. We couldn’t get the hob to work on our second evening.
The location was good, and the car park opposite was very handy. It was longer down to the quayside than I’d expected, but this wasn’t a problem. The house was warm.

United KingdomWe booked Fisherman’s cottage but were changed last minute to Pebble cottage so any criticism is for this property and not Fisherman’s. We are not a group who go out much in evening and self cater. Kitchen in Pebble cottage was very small, many of the kitchen utensils required a good wash before use though it was well stocked. I chose original cottage as it had 2 sofas in living room that looked ok from photos. Pebble cottage had 1 sofa and 2 very uncomfortable chairs. Bed in 2nd bedroom very comfortable but main bedroom not so. We found some broken glass or ceramic on bedroom floor and ( I know this is a listed building and would expect spiders etc) the underside of mantelpiece / fireplace was covered in cobwebs and dust.

United KingdomThe stairs are uneven but this is a listed cottage so added to the charm, but I made sure my young daughter was supervised going up and down them at all times.
The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring Blakeney and the surrounding area, its only a few minutes to walk to the Quay and some lovely local eateries. The cottage itself is very quaint and well equipped with everything you would need. At the time of booking the hostess messaged me to say the Fisherman's Cottage had just been booked on another platform but could offer us a similar cottage around the corner at 118a. This benefited from an ensuite shower room to the main bedroom, as well the bathroom downstairs. When we arrived at 5pm there was no hot water as the immersion heater had broken, so I messaged the hostess who arranged for a plumber to call at 9am the following morning to replace the immersion. Luckily both showers are electric so it wasn't a problem.

United KingdomWonderful clean, cosy and snuggly warm cottage. Beds and sofas are extremely comfortable and the cottage is well equipped. We were able to park our car directly in front of the property, but we know from experience that during high season parking along the high street is not so easy and its best to use the nearby carpark which has always proved safe. Very friendly and approachable host. We loved our stay, this is fourth time we have stayed in one of this companies cottages and it won't be the last.

United Kingdomthe initial message from the owners was too long and I didn't read it, which resulted in not picking up the keys and waiting for the owners for quite a long time, who probably didn't arrive, just left the key in a secret place .... going on vacation I didn't expect a long manual home .... but after this little mishap everything was great :)
Great house, well-equipped (we didn't even turn on the TV), comfortable rooms, but the mattress was too soft for us - but it's impossible to please every customer, the bathroom was clean and fully equipped. The surroundings are great, an incredibly quiet town - just what we needed, close to the waterfront with plenty of walking paths. We highly recommend it!
