Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWatch the outdoor steps as there slippery in the rain, there is no phone connection in the village and so I would advise that you take note of the key box code before arrival and sort out the app for the car park. We didn't and ended up faffing around which after a days travel is not ideal.
The house was in an ideal location, very picturesque, quirky, comfortable, very well thought out amenities, the kitchen really worked and had everything you needed, the living area was comfortable and the log burner made it really cosy in the evening. Real thought had been given to guests as there were books and box games for the children plus some great cook books / travel guides. Also the Smart TV was great for movies. Bedrooms were beautiful and had everything you needed. It all made for a very memorable break.

United KingdomSomewhat rusty key box which made getting the key a little tricky (bring WD40). While we had a fire, part of the fire grate fell out hot. We used teh tongs to put it back but on closing the fire door, it cracked. The host asked us to pay, and in the end we made a contribution but not the full cost because we didn't really feel responsible.
The property was great. Warm, pretty and a great location. There is one lovely double bedroom with an amazing view. One decent sized room with twin beds, and a box room with a single bed. I thought this was usful to clarify I wasn't completely clear about these facilities from the description which lacked a photo of the single room. We had a very good stay there. For us, keen walkers, it worked well to unload luggage and then park the car at the top of the village and forget about it.

United KingdomThe only issue was that the property was quite hard to find. If you unload your car where instructed by the owner, go up the steps and turn left, it is the property with the pink door that is hidden.
The property was charming and beautiful. It has everything you could possibly need!

United KingdomA great location, you can drive in to the village to drop your stuff and any passengers off, but you then have to park outside the village at the top of a very steep hill in the car park and walk back, which is fine on arrival but should you need to use your car again it's quiet a climb and anyone with mobility issues are going to really struggle. The wood burner hadn't been cleaned out by the previous guests which didn't take long to do to be honest, and the sofa needed a good hoover but the rest of the cottage was very clean. The only real negative which is nothing what so ever to do with the property, is dog owners, letting them run around off a lead and the sandy beach in the harbour was littered with dog mess while kids are playing, the local council really should police this tightly, or ban dogs completely as it isn't acceptable.
A lovely quaint little cottage, very tastefully decorated in an ideal location with great views from the cliff/seating area at the back. The kitchen is small but has everything you require, the stairs are quiet narrow to the bathroom but this adds to the quaintness and character, the beds are comfy and the top room has a great view over the harbour, the living area is very easy to relax in, especially if you light the wood burner, a nice glass of red in front of a roaring fire and you won't bother switching on the tv. eating out is easy with 2 great pubs to choose from, you can order take out pizza just up the road and there's shops a short walk away should you wish to cook and eat in. As a tip you should take what my partner calls a welcome pack with you (alcohol, tea, coffee, kitchen roll, milk, butter, bread, jam and biscuits etc) as these are quiet expensive in the local shop and it means you can hit the ground running, also it's an idea to buy your logs and fire lighter at the house at the bottom of the lane on your way up to drop your things off, this saves you having to carry them up the hill. all in all, we loved it here, not having a phone signal sealed it for us and we spent a fab time relaxing and didn't really want to leave. We will definitely return.

United KingdomThe stairs would benefit from some additional subtle lighting at night (e.g. night lights) as the stairs/low ceilings are hard to navigate when it is dark. While you can drive into the village to unload (as per instructions), guests need to be aware that the cottage is on a steep road and it's not clearly visible from the street. If you are not travelling light, it would be easier if you reversed up the road (as there is no real space for turning when you leave) or stayed at the bottom of the road and carried your things up.
Cottage was in a great location within the village, quiet and with an amazing sea view in the top bedroom.

United KingdomCouncil Parking shocking if its full. Where do you park!?!?! That happened 1 day when we'd paid £30 for the 4 nights a bit steep . So we parked for half an hour where we were allowed to unload the car as we were waiting for my mother in law as she's a bit unsteady on her legs. And we felt that the locals were a little bit on the unfriendly side (not all ) but some. If you are bad with your legs this isn't the place for you.
Beds super comfy. Well equipped cottage with good fittings , I agree with what another reviewer with curtains ... sheer see through , shutters would be awesome. Teatowels and towels linen included . Games / Netflix. (No wine) like other travellers . Loved the kids room very spacious . Turkish bath towels fab. Cutlery pans

United KingdomI'm 6' 4'' so it was very tight getting up and down the stairs and into the bathroom. Only to be expected with these kinda houses but worth mentioning all the same. It is right in the middle of staithes so carefully plan the right time to load and unload at the property. It could be stressful if you pick the wrong time. The double bed was too small for 2 big people. A bigger bed would fit in that space easily.
The cottage was quaint a lovely with some really nice touches. Quality fittings and accessories. It was right in the middle of staithes so no need to use the car for a few days.
