How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No mirrors in bedrooms. It's costly in ubers all weekend to get into town. Door locks automatic, not helpful if key is in the house. It's disappointing having to pay £30 for someone to bring a key, worth having a better contingency in place for guests.
Lovely decor, plenty of room, comfy beds, nice touch with toiletries. Garden space nice.

Lack of seating for all the family in the living room. Although it is not the weather for it, the BBQ is not usable.
Nice clean property close to family and the city centre. Contact with the host was quick and responsive. Off road parking for 1 car if required and a nice sized yard at the rear.

Everything was to our liking, the only thing I would change would be to contact the owner before the day to sort out how to access. I didn't message them until the morning (my fault) so I had a bit of anxiety before I left. However I called and they answered straight away and I had nothing to worry about!
Everything! The house is beautiful, the rooms are all decorated well and the fixtures, furniture, bedding etc were all lovely. Being able to park off road was a massive plus for me. There was simple information available to make settling in easy and accessing the property was simple (following a phone call).

Dinning room table unstable, could do with replacing or fixing Bigger towels would have been a benefit. We would have like mirrors in the bedrooms
The location was great to start a weekend stay, which is convenient to all our events House was clean and tidy, and we all liked the spacious rooms . The shoe cupboard was a great idea

Texting for the lock box code when on the way made me little anxious - although actually it worked well.
Booked for one night for a very early flight next morning so didn't use it for much more than a place to sleep. The house was clean nicely furnished. Kitchen looked reasonably well equipped although we didn't really make use of any of it. Bedrooms were comfortable and there was plenty of space upstairs although I think if the house was fully occupied the downstairs space might be a little crowded to spend much time there. Easy to find and well located for the airport but I think would be convenient for city centre too. Good communication from owner - keys collected with code for lock box and we were able to leave them when checking out early morning

Can't find anything that was unsatisfactory
The house was beautiful, spacious and clean. All the basic amenities were already there, coffee, tea, toilet roll, which was much appreciated after a long journey. The host was very polite and helpful over our message communications. 100% would book again if we come back.

It was a bit far from the city centre about a 20 minute walk but we didn’t mind the location, the only thing that I’d suggest to get better is the policy’s on the deposits as we were told there was none and we were landed with a deposit 2 weeks before we were supposed to go and it was very mixed up, bar that everything was perfect.
It was spacious and was perfect for a big group of people

Found a dead fly in the bathroom but other than that the house was amazing!
It was an amazing area and the overall house was in amazing condition as it a modern home!
