Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

A beautiful, thoughtfully set up place. Great bathroom, kitchen was great for doing meals after going out. Hosts were absolutely lovely. We used it as a base to explore lots of places over Northumberland and it was a good location for this but, to be honest, the local area was so nice we could have spent lots of time there.

United KingdomWe could find no fault with this property!
The location was ideal for our purposes. The cottage was immaculate, and furnished to an excellent standard. We were met at the property by the very friendly owner, who showed us around and left us with the keys. The whole property was warm and immaculate, with nice up-market fixtures and fittings you don't often find in rental properties. There was a welcome pack of wine, biscuits, coffee, etc, and even logs for the log-burner.

New ZealandSpacious, clean, renovated to a high standard, comfortable bed, great shower, cottage warm with an efficient heating source. Spa bath was great too. Own parking. Quiet and peaceful location with lovely views from property. Friendly welcoming host. Very nice welcome pack of biscuits and wine. Local supermarket 3 minutes drive down the road and the local people are friendly and helpful. The heritage centre in Bellingham is also well worth a visit with knowledgeable volunteers about the history of the area.

This is a self-catering holiday home with a local co-op in the village and an Aldi 30 minutes drive away. The owners gifted us a bottle of preseco 🍾 some cookies 🍪 🍪 and a lovely postcard stating where we were staying, the lovely lady Georgia(i think that was her name) told us about The Sill as we were asking about Hadrians wall and told us about the local pubs and shops. 5 The Croft was located in a beautiful village called Bellingham and the views were excellent. Myself and my friends would highly recommend this perfect little place to stay.

United KingdomThere was no freezer compartment in the fridge which could have been a problem if I had brought food for a week rather than the three nights that I was there. My only other quibble was that there wasn't much shelf space to put toiletries etc around the basin, nor in the shower.
I arrived at 5, The Croft half an hour early but Jayme let me in even though he was halfway through cleaning the house. He was very friendly and gave me a good tour of the property. It was very clean and looked as it it had hardly ever been used. Although I parked on the road outside for the first night, I moved my car round the back which made loading the car so much easier than the unloading which was a bit unnerving on such a busy road. Although busy, you hardly noticed any noise as there is quite a big front garden between the road and house. As it happened, I didn't need to use my car at all during my stay as the village centre is only a short walk away. The welcome pack was a nice touch and much appreciated. I had taken my own tea towels, oven gloves, cutlery, coffee, sugar etc so I didn't use those items which were provided in the house. There was a dishwasher that I didn't use but there wasn't a washing machine which may be a problem for a family staying for a week or longer. The bathroom was big more in keeping with a boutique hotel. The living room was big and even with four adults in it, I don't think it would feel cramped.
