How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Literally can't fault anything!
Absolutely stunning rooms, incredible place. We were bowled over as soon as we walked in the door. Karen was so helpful at check in, and handling the little requests we had during our stay (we were there for a race). Breakfast was perfectly cooked with everything we could want (and more!). An unbelievable find

I loved the place! It's a self check in place which is very convenient, and the location is just perfect. I loved the room, the beds and the breakfast. The lady that prepared our breakfast was so nice that let us have breakfast even earlier than 8 am. What a great flexibility! I would definitely go back.

I liked the size of the bed and the bathroom especially the tub. as well as how close it was to the train station and center of town . Karen upgraded our roo from 2 twins to a king size at no extra cost. she was very helpful with directions and train schedules.

Karen's a great host we were attending a wedding so we're in Portrush at 11.30, Karen had our room ready for us and it did not disappoint. Room was very clean, the bed was massive and it's in a great location, will be back again.

Very friendly and helpful welcome from Karen. Nicely located, short walk from beaches and town centre, Clean and spacious bedroom, nice big bed (I'm tall and appreciate that!). Tasty and generous full Irish breakfast.

Breakfast was cooked perfectly to my taste. The property was within easy walking distance of a expansive beach and close to the village. No driving necessary. Karen was warm and friendly and made our visit a pleasure.

Nothing to dislike in my opinion
Everything! The room was very comfortable, the beds and blankets were so warm!! Very beautiful location just 2min walk to a gorgeous beach!! So close to the amazing coastal causeway and so many outstanding locations like Duluce Castle and Giants Causeway. Breakfast was absolutely delicious!!! One of our favorite places we stayed on our trip!

We were welcomed by Karen,the owner.She was very friendly and allowed us to leave our bags early and to pick them up after we had checked out.The breakfast was excellent,you really need a healthy appetite to eat the full breakfasy.In addition to the cooked breakfast there was cereals fresh fruit,youghurt and toast.

Bed was a bit hard, I’m more used to a softer bed.
Breakfast was excellent with a good variety if required. Couldn’t get any closer as a B&B to the beach and town with parking which was very appreciated as many places in the town have no private parking.

Couldn't find a fault if I tried.
Host was amazingly helpful and just made us feel at home from the minute we arrived and kind enough to let us check in 4 hours early and also wait on our collection after check out in the sitting area. Facilties were next to none, absolutely spotless also and location is brilliant also. Amazingly helpful folder of information on local eats areas to visit contact numbers for local business everything you need to know for the area of stay. Overall aaranmore Lodge is by far the best place to stay hands down and I've been visiting the area for years wouldn't want to stay anywhere else when visiting again can't wait to stay here again.
