Our bathroom was a bit grubby. And the decor was dated with a few out door maintenance issues. But to be fair there were not too many staff and the ones we saw were running around doing loads so maybe staffing is a bit low.

It's an absolutely beautiful setting and the main house looks lovely, very impressive. The out door space is lovely too. All the staff were polite and helpful.

Disappointed to find neither of steam rooms in spa were working for different reasons.

Lovely setting not far from Shrewsbury Town. Peaceful, lovely spacious room in annexe part. Nice food and bar area. Unexpected local pianist entertaining us on the Friday evening was a bonus to our stay.

Staff were friendly and warm on reception, however the staff behind the bar seem to lack urgency. Staff for breakfast were quite rude and unwelcoming. The room we stayed in at the school house was a little tired could do with some upgrading - we could hear the heating all night long which was irritating.

Location was stunning, the main house is beautiful. The room was comfortable and clean.

Nice hotel but rowdy guests spoilt it

I was put on this occasion, in a annex to the hotel which seemed to be full of guests from a wedding going on, and whilst to a degree it is out of the hotels control putting a single traveller who wanted a quiet nights rest in the same space was not a good idea. The noise was dreadful when I checked in (I probably should have complained at this point but I was very tired) and again from about midnight to the early hours. This was a big negative for me. Booked a room with a bath as needed to soak and was only given a shower - small niggle.

I actually stayed at this hotel unintentionally for two nights (this being the second) and the first night booking was decent 8/10 leading me to book again. This room again was a good size and the breakfast (as much as buffet style full english can be) was decent. The restaurant was also good and the staff efficient and friendly. It's still a great hotel despite my negative comments but alas I'd not stay again on a friday night / any time there was an event going on.

Service in bar slow although staff worked hard Bedroom Shower area needs a little more maintenance. Shower drainage inadequate as water building up during shower. General cleaning in shower cubicle needed (black mould)

Checking was clunky (couldn't find booking reference) and there was a fair wait.

The room was large very comfortable and parking easy, restaurant was decent and breakfast passable (buffet style full english is never going to be 'amazing' though).

Breakfast was self-service, staff on entry did not explain procedure. We sat down initially exception service for tea or coffee, then obtain own choice of buffet selection, which is normal. Didn't realise the whole process was help yourself. Could have been made clearer. Food although ok didn't live up to the standard of other recent experiences with Mercure Bradford or Nottingham. Watch out for the noisy crows in the rookery! All part of the experience.

Free parking, lovely location, well maintained public areas. Spa facilities, use of garden for evening drinks. Friendly reception staff. Super large bedroom and bathroom.
