Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFor the price we paid, we were both OK with the room, it was clean and for our very short stay, it was OK. If we wanted a superior room or another hotel then we could have paid for this option, but for this visit and the limited time we were there, the hotel was great. We did not have breakfast only because we were just not hungry.
The location was very central to where we wanted to be which was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. The price was reasonable to other hotels close by. We were very impressed with the warm welcome we received by the gentleman at reception [Friday 26th of April]. He was chatty helpful and genuine which was a refreshing change.

United KingdomI can't think of anything I didn't like
I'm familiar with this hotel as I've stayed here many times since 2013. There's always a warm welcome at the Amsterdam. The location's great and for the first time i opted for a room with seaview. I highly recommend it

United KingdomThere was nothing I didn't like. Everything was good. Just note that the elevator doesn't go to the 4th floor so if you aren't able to climb stairs then make sure you get a room in the first three floors. It's completely fine if stairs are not a problem for you to get to the 4th floor as was my case. You take the elevator to the third floor and the take the stairs one flight to the 4th floor. The stairs are narrow so if you have lots of luggage or large suitcases then you might want a room on the lower floors.
The location was perfect! Right on the coast, by the pier and in the city center. I liked the room, very clean, perfect size. Kettle provided with mugs, glasses, biscotti biscuits with the usual assortment of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, and sugar. The bed was comfortable. I had a room that looked out on to the side street, but I still had a side view of the sea which was nice. Bathroom was clean and had everything I would expect in a hotel such as a little bar of soap, complimentary little combo hair and body wash bottles, and plastic cups, and plenty of towels. I had breakfast in the restaurant, and it was good. I had the small breakfast with a glass of orange juice, and it came to 9 pounds total which I felt was very reasonable. Beautiful view of the seafront from the restaurant. I didn't get to see any of the cabaret shows in the restaurant this time but maybe next time. I plan to visit Brighton again and if so, I would like to stay at Amsterdam again.

Great location. Rooms were clean. Able to turn up the heat on the rads so room was nice and warm. weather was wet and cold outside so this was great to be able to dry off our clothes when we got back to the room. Got an early check in too which was very appreciated

United KingdomThe cleanliness could be better as there was a cotton bud on the floor the table legs by the bed were covered with dust and the toilet seat was not cleaned properly. It's a shame because I have stayed here a lot of times and never had any problems at all also I put the service my room sign out and all they did was Change the towels and make up the bed with the same sheets and didn't clean the bathroom or anywhere else
