Jacuzzi wasn't working properly in the pool area. Changing rooms could do with a makeover, and as a lot of lockers were not usable. Rules in place regarding the use of jacuzzi but not followed by everyone, no staff monitoring the area. A lot of kids use pool area, which is fine if parents are attentive and follow rules. Also, for the ladies, hairdryer is provided but is not too powerful, so if you like a powerful blast, then take your own.

Lovely location and hotel. Lovely grounds to enjoy a walk. The room was clean, very spacious and comfortable. Had everything you need. We paid extra for privilege room. So there was a coffee machine, robes and slippers. Leisure access was enjoyable and made for a different way to pass the time. Buffet breakfast, plenty to choose from. The meal in the bar was excellent, menu had good choices to suit all. Prices for drinks and bar meals as expected for hotel. Did see a few deliveries getting made to the hotel for takeaways, which is great that the hotel allows you to do this if you miss the last order for kitchen All staff were very friendly and helpful.

The poor greeting on both arrival and departure were perfunctory to say the least and not good at all. The prices for both food and drink were very high. £9.00 for a very basic ham sandwich as but one example. The breakfast room was very chilly

Iconic building and the room was a high standard

We travel with our elderly dog and it is a long walk from reception to the dog friendly rooms, (250+ steps) once there though, there is a side door that can be used to take your furry friend for a walk. Not really a negative and an understandable policy.

Ardoe is a combination of the old grand frontage and a large modern hotel behind. The room was very comfortable, huge comfy bed, excellent ensuite, a Nespresso machine, bathrobes provided, we had such a good night's sleep there. In the morning we had a relaxing stroll in the grounds with our dog, quiet, scenic and refreshing.

Just little niggles - room service breakfast order not picked up and request for a shower mat ignored (uber luxury shower but nothing to grab when floor slippery). Spa was lovely but didn't find out until the end I didn't get the treatment I booked as equipment not working properly!!!

Room was lovely and quiet with a really comfy bed - and all the little extras as a Privilege Room were great (esp as I got a Genius upgrade). Public areas were stunning in the original house but comfortable and food was delicious - afternoon tea and Blairs. Must try a Rusty Coo in the bar (but only one).

Spa bookings cancelled the day before our arrival so that was disappointing. Food was good and bad - seafood was lovely but dessert was disappointing, supposed to be cranachan but more like a parfait or panna cotta so very disappointed because cranachan is one of my favourite desserts.

The hotel is lovely, spacious rooms, comfy beds and windows that open so you can let fresh air in. Staff very friendly and helpful so no fault there. A lovely hotel and staff but the food at dinner was disappointing

The dinner wasn’t great. I had Cullen Skink - rather than chunks of fish it was in one big chunk, the broth was tasteless, no potatoes and hard carrots. It didn’t come with any bread which is unheard of and when we asked for some (this was when we still expected a rich tasty broth), it was like supermarket bread and not home made. My friends had Cranachan but again, nothing like that dish, it was like a pannacotta with a few raspberries and no oats. Lastly we’d chosen the hotel for its Spa but all 3 bookings were either booked in for the wrong day, or were cancelled due to an emergency the day before we arrived. We’d booked using Itison vouchers and were told we’d need to seek refunds from them ourselves which added extra hassle and anxiety to our deep disappointment.

Lovely hotel and staff. Large airy rooms, modern shower and toilet. Very comfy beds and loved being able to open the windows

Nothing much - it’s quite dark as you come in entrance maybe lighting could be improved. We managed to use the spa alongside all the children,s swim activities - it was quite busy for a relaxing atmosphere. We went later and it was quieter which was much better. We loved using the sauna steam and swim. Upgrading the pool area would improve the experience too.

Ambiance of room and space was perfect

Some staff members looked like they didn't want to be there. Breakfast was cold and the fresh lot of hash browns were still frozen in the middle. Dined in blairs not exactly fine dining should at least pop a table cloth on for the evening meals so it looks a little better than when I had breakfast. Dead flowers on the tables long wait for drinks. Food good would have been better hot

Breakfast queue and the need to wait for a considerable time for extra supply of eggs, bacon, etc. Overall it's ok but by European standards it's pretty basic.

Great service, dog friendly (pet friendly rooms are quite a trek from the reception but near a fire exit so excellent for that morning doggo walk, great surroundings), lovely room, very clean and comfortable, superb value for money. Lovely hotel.

Evening meal was cold and took ages between courses - I had asked for acknowledgement of my dad's birthday and there was nothing, despite assurances that they would do something nice (just a happy birthday on a plate with a strawberry or something would have been perfect). I did get an apology but the moment was gone.
