How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There is literally nothing but I didn’t like.
The owners were so sweet and friendly. They made me feel so welcome and safe. Had amazing lovely conversations with them every day and discussed about it location and suggested me places I can travel and see.

The bed was quite hard and not the most comfortable but this would be easily sorted with a mattress topper.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly, the breakfast was simple and good, we liked the character of the building and decor was very authentic. It was great to have tea and coffee supplies in the room. Everything was very clean.

Shower and sink could be larger in top bathroom.
Great budget guest house 10 minutes walk from the centre of St.Hellier with a hearty breakfast included. The owners are very attentive and the communication is second to none. I will definitely stay again.

Just be aware there is no lift.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, excellent breakfast, clean, comfortable room, plenty of electric sockets. Generous tea, coffee & milk in the room (so often there is not enough milk!).

Nice owners… kind and helpful. A good location.
Breakfast was great, but maybe some background music or the tv on to break the silence. It was deadly quiet. I was trying to chew my toast quietly 😀 Perhaps some door closers to stop them banging shut! 👍

We couldn’t fault the property
The property is central to all restaurants and the marina and also if you enjoy walking is close enough to walk to all the attractions ie Elizabeth Castle and Jersey War Tunnel. If you don’t like to walk there is the option to catch the bus for £2 per journey. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent

Nothing at all.
Gloria and Gerry went to every length to make my stay a welcoming and enjoyable one! The room was extremely clean, and a great sight at the end of a long day flying out to Jersey this year. A lovely selection of tea and coffee facilities, soft bed, a plenty hot shower and a nice view out of the top floor rooms, a really enjoyable experience. Had to be at the airport early each day whilst I was there (photography at the Jersey Air Display) so did not get to enjoy the breakfast, but the options looked really tasty, I will try to sample them next time. Will absolutely return here when I next visit Jersey- thank you!

If you are very very picky, Maybe the mattress is a bit hard but nothing to be concern at all
Location: fair distance for the city center Property: simple but lovely Service: excellent! I do not have enough stars for them, Gloria and Gerry are great people and always helping The breakfast is served by them and you will be really full at the end. We had a really great experience

The beds weren’t very comfortable and the shower wasn’t great in terms of power/temperature but still worked! There wasn’t really an opportunity for us to meet our hosts unless it was breakfast so we didn’t get to speak to them that often and ask questions like we would have liked to
The hosts were very sweet and breakfast was made fresh every morning and very filling. The location was also close to town/buses and very easy to find! The rooms were cleaned/beds were made fresh every day. There were options to ask for more pillows/blankets and shower gel was provided

If I was to give something (this is extremely critical) maybe a little bit more info from staff as to where to go/recommended.
This exceeded my expectations. It was amazing value for money and an excellent location. Staff were friendly and the b & b itself had a friendly atmosphere. It was also extremely clean which is what we need in this day and age.
