Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWell we liked it enough to return after our first visit but if we had to pick something we didn’t like it would be the driveway to the house as it’s quite bumpy but it’s not something that would stop us from returning!
Everything. It’s cozy, clean, spacious and everything you need is there. The cost is also really good value for money. The log burner has to be the favourite part!

United KingdomThe only thing for me was not having an enclosed garden to let the dog out first thing and at night so we would probably leave her at home next time.
Everything! Such a perfect little cottage that had everything we needed for our weeks stay. Great for exploring the western lakes and still only 40 mins from other beautiful parts of the Lake District. As mentioned in previous reviews the mezzanine lounge is a lovely touch with a huge record and book collection. Well stocked kitchen which enabled us to cook when we stayed in.

Guernseynothing - it was perfect
Our recent stay at this charming cottage was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene surroundings and the cosy, welcoming atmosphere of the cottage. The cottage is its perfect location situated in beautiful countryside and close to a village and with a garage shop just down the road, the shop had everything we could possibly need, making it easy to stock up on essentials. For walking enthusiasts like ourselves, the cottage was the perfect gateway for fantastic walks in the area, all within a half-hour's drive. Whether you prefer leisurely strolls or more challenging hikes, there was something for everyone. Exploring the breath-taking landscapes nearby was a true highlight of our stay. Despite our initial hiccup with the hot water, we were thoroughly impressed by the quick and efficient response from the hosts, Stephanie and Dave. Dave arrived within the hour and not only resolved the issue but also shared valuable insights about the local area and recommended some walks for us, which did not disappoint. The cleanliness and attention to detail in the cottage did not go unnoticed. It was evident that the owners take great pride in maintaining a spotless and well-equipped space. The cosy lounge with its log burner was a cherished feature, especially on the colder evenings, our dog particularly enjoyed curling up by the fire. In conclusion, our stay at this cottage was nothing short of wonderful. From the location to the warm hospitality, everything exceeded our expectations. If you're seeking a tranquil getaway with all the comforts of home, we wholeheartedly recommend booking a stay here. It's the perfect retreat for anyone looking to unwind, explore, and create lasting memories.

United KingdomShower tiles could do with a scrub. Unfortunately on the first night there was an issue with lighting, but hosts communicated well and the issue was fixed the following day. Lamps provided throughout to help. Issue didn't have too much impact. I wish I'd known the bathroom was downstairs. With mobility issues and a need to access the bathroom 5 or 6 times a night, the unfamiliar stairs made it quite stressful & tiring. Garden not enclosed means taking the dog for very dark walks before bed - though headlamps & torches provided. Fridge freezer quite small, with broken handles. The same issue almost all places seem to have - no plug sockets near a mirror for doing hair. Difficult to find plug for chargers in the bedroom too. We found the bed uncomfortable - too hard for us, but I'm sure others will find it comfortable. Main issue with this property is that it's unsuitable to those with mobility issues (stairs to enter, loo downstairs, stairs quite steep, though a sturdy banister is provided). Would recommend to able bodied friends.
Cute cottage, with lots of entertainment choices (games, books, DVDs). Fully equipped kitchen (though the oven switch could do with a clean - had to turn it off to stop the flashing timer after electrics were fixed). Lots of storage space in the bedroom. Easy parking, great views. Friendly neighbours. Snug area upstairs was great, comfortable & well equipped with games. Very dog friendly, perfect for our dog to relax after long days. Great for the coast, bit of a drive for the Lake District, but we did it each day with no issues. We'd stay again. Washing machine and airer provided, plenty of space to hang towels. Powerful sizeable shower.

United KingdomSuperb all round. No issues at all.
Delightful Cumbrian property removed from the high density areas of the Lake District however close enough to the fells & lakes, and indeed the coast too, to access all areas with ease. Everything needed thought of, and more, to self cater for a couple and feel that you have lucked in in your choice of accommodation.

United KingdomI am being asked t5o comment on aspects which I did not like about this holiday let. All I can say is, I had no issues here as I found everything g to be perfect. As an individual who travels a great deal, I feel it essential to offer a kind of awareness when I experience issues as it protects others from the same. I can honestly state that this lovely cottage along with its perfect location was wonderful, quaint and so quiet whilst enjoying easy access to major road links. No issues, no negative issues.
This property was self catering however the amenities allowed for a perfect breakfast. The cottage was bright and cool despite the weather being hot. The design of the windows on the first floor were amazing, allowing cool air to circulate throughout the internal space. The bed was very comfortable and the room size was perfect in size and well appointed . A lovely open space to the rear consisting of two lawn areas and a gravel drive space. A Rowe of cottages down a quiet lane with an amazing, un interrupted view of the most beautiful countryside. A large garage and internal shopping area included with a very wide choice of items, offering all you would need to fill the fridge. I found all the local people to be very approachable and friendly also very helpful. I can highly recommend this property. The owners were so polite and helpful, for myself , that was a real bonus. I am looking forward to a return visit. I brought my dog Jasper with me and he loved all the open walks and spaces.Wonderful and thank you guys. Regards Steve & Jasper x x
