The decor is 'patchy' some lovely design but in places a little unloved and lacking cohesion. We were woke by a noise but the team were lovely and came straight up to help us. The breakfast menu didn't have clear pricing and was expensive for quite standard fare.

Loved the spa! Lovely room and some amazing features in the building. Staff were lovely and friendly. Evening food was delicious.

We took a dog but couldn't then use the inside route through the hotel (as the dog couldn't walk through the spa - that's fine I guess) but then we couldn't lock the patio doors with the room key from the outside so a bit awkward. We also didn't have a mat or anything so mud was trapsed through, I had to use my own towel I'd brought to dry the dog with as an entry mat. Also the owners allowed their dog in the restaurant but no one else is... Probably a booking.com error but we weren't informed about the £50 dog cleaning fee, the booking also said spa access was £15pp per night but at the hotel it was £50 pp per night, so because of the cleaning fee added on our spa break no longer involved the spa. In terms of cleanliness it could do with a little more attention to detail, it was fine but not top standard e.g. around the bath plugs needed a clean with a toothbrush. We had a terrace with our room but only way too long heavy curtains so if we wanted any privacy we had to be in darkness as people could walk across the top and peer in. Some blinds wouldn't go amiss! On-site dinner was fine only one option per night in the restaurant so as a vegetarian I had an entire roasted brocolli one night. It was nice if you wanna eat a whole brocolli and nothing else! No phone in the room which I found weird as there is zero phone signal... So not massively negative but could be improved in a few areas. It was nice for the price paid.

Lovely staff that were super accommodating. Great location with dog friendly pubs a short walk away. Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

We were so upset that we didn't enjoy our dining experience like we hoped as we loved everything else about the hotel so much. The food was great to be honest but the overall atmosphere was awful. I would have hoped as it wasn't too busy in the restaurant that there would have been some music (or the staff would have picked up on the dead atmosphere and put some music on and lit some candles on the tables!!). I do think it let down our stay as we were away for valentines, were excited to dress up and have a lovely meal but there were big bright lights on in the restaurant so no nice ambient lighting, no music, a few other people we spoke to agreed the dining let down the hotel as it was a bit like a canteen. if you're going to have beautiful rooms and a beautiful spa you need to work on a lovely restaurant atmosphere. dimmer lighting, some candles on the tables and soft music in the background would have made it 10x nicer. if we came back we would probably just order room service and make the most of the lovely rooms as it didn't seem worth getting ready to go down for dinner when the restaurant was like that :(

Our room was absolute perfection and the spa was gorgeous! Super clean and beautiful. The staff were lovely and couldn't have gone our their way more to make the stay as nice as possible. The guy on reception showed us to our beautiful room (the south wing) which was honestly everything I could have dreamed of in a room. it was HUGE!! 4 Poster bed, gorgeous free standing bath, views over the garden and his and hers bathroom! It really is the most perfect room for a romantic getaway. The spa is also so lovely and relaxing. Small but just what you need for a little staycation and id absolutely come back!

Spa definitely needs an upgrade in terms of Hydro Pool steam rooms etc but its still relaxing.

We’ve visited before. It was a shame that the spa wasn’t included in the price. I was also disappointed after speaking with reception and booking a table for dinner, that only one menu was being used. I had been informed that we could choose either menu. Otherwise staff were lovely and attentive.

Wasn’t keen on the menu, but I’m a fussy eater and it was all a bit too much for me. A lot of fish. So we went up to the pub up the road.

Beautiful hotel, the staff were all ever so friendly. I loved that they showed us to our room annd anround it, offered fresh milk for our teas in the room. It’s the little touches that make the stay much more pleasant. Most hotels give you the key and point you in the rough direction of the room.

Maintenance an issue throughout, small details ie broken toilet roll holders, closed toilets and showers, in the spa 24 jets and only 4 working, ran out of lager on tap after the first night, breakfast lovely, dinner appalling, risotto like a soggy bowl Of slop, meats are fatty and tiny portions bulked out by veg. Staff went the extra mile to try and cover it, but uphill battle for them .

Nice property and location, the garden lodge was lovely with lovely views of the grounds. The staff were all friendly and polite, exceedingly helpful.spa staff very professional.
