How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Slippy shower.
Modern and clean ground floor apartment. Shops, bars and restaurants all within 5 minutes walk from property. Friendly and helpful proprietor.

Bear Den was very spacious, ground floor apartment. Nice and clean and well presented. Town centre with cafes, restaurants and bars just up the road.

Due to the threat of snow, it was freezing and we didn't know how to put the heating on.
stayed in the other apartment last year, great place, fabulous co-op on your doorstop. Excellent shops and people.

The heating could have been better. It was a little cold sometimes. However part of the problem was our own fault as we forgot our slippers so we found the floors cold!
The apartment was clean and presentable. Sian and her husband were such lovely, friendly and helpful people. We had arrived early so they let us park there whilst we walked around the town until check in time.

There is nothing we didn’t like. The property had everything we needed.
Clean, modern apartment with everything we needed for a weekend away. Sian our host was really friendly and helpful giving us information about the local area. The apartment is in a great location being close to shops and local pubs. Would definitely stay here again.

Sian was a wonderful host, everything what I needed was there for me, was a weekend of going around Elan Valley on my bike and was somewhere secure to keep my bike overnight, will definitely stay again, appartment was lovely and really peaceful too.

Honestly, I can’t think of anything I would consider reasonable, given the excellent value for money for this spacious 2 bedroomed apartment. Perhaps some more information about where to dispose of our rubbish on departure and what to put in the recycling bin provided. This wasn’t a problem as our host assured us on leaving that this would be sorted out as part of the cleaning after our departure. Also, we could have asked our host at any time as she was readily available but we were happy to use our discretion. I’m sure guests would appreciate a section in the welcome pack about rubbish and recycling which could be easily added.
Location ideal for our choice of exploring the Elan Valley. Apartment right in the main town but quiet inside despite heavy traffic. Apartment well equipped and tastefully furnished. Sian, our host provided a small but very welcome supply of tea and coffee and milk pots for hot drinks as well as a packet of lovely chocolate biscuits and a bottle of Prosecco which was chilling nicely in the fridge when we arrived. Lots of pubs and places to eat. Shower great. Beds and bedding very comfortable. We stayed in Rhayader during the September heatwave in 2023, but stepping out of the heat outside into the cool apartment was blissful, without the need for noisy and environment unfriendly air conditioning. The external walls are very thick which may account for this. I would imagine the apartment would be cosy in cooler months for the same reason. The shop and pub staff are friendly and cheerful and we felt welcome wherever we went.

Of the many similar apartments I have stayed in recently, this is the only one not to supply a bath towel! Was shocked to receive 'a friendly reminder' from the proprietor the day before. As an international visitor, I was forced to rush out last minute to buy, then launder a towel, that will not fit in my luggage and will end up being discarded! I would not have booked if this were made quite clear at booking time. Parking lot was also a bit of a dog's breakfast.
Very modern, nicely appointed and furnished apartment in the centre of town. Extremely clean and well equipped.
