Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA friend booked this bnb as we were coming to Derry to attend a local restaurant. The location was on Bishops gate street just outside the walls. It was great value and about a ten minute walk from the restaurant. The bnb was clean and had tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast and this was freshly cooked on the morning by Jim (who had broken his arm) and ably assisted by Francis. Both were friendly and helpful. There was also cereal, fruit and yoghurt and fresh toast if you didn't want a cooked breakfast

IrelandThere's nothing we could write in this box everything was great!
The reception was warm and welcoming. The room was basic but was justified by the price. The location was perfect, only a stones throw from where we had business. Would highly recommend this B&B and we are already planning our next trip. Ps, breakfast was beautiful and plenty of options to keep you going for the day!

RomaniaEven though they let us check in later, the trip was not without its challenges. The owner did not us answer the phone for 50 minutes after an employee called us to say it is impossible to check in anymore after 18:00 . During that time we kept calling, he did not answer back so we called customer care to find a solution. They provided none. We panicked and started looking for a new place to stay in for the night seeing that we were very wet from the weather outside. The owner called us after an hour to say he can now receive us, but we almost made a reservation with someone else and we paid a lot of money on customer care calls which helped with nothing. The place was very hard to find. It is not on Google maps. When we arrived, it was the wrong location and the owner was very angry on the phone that we were a couple of minutes late on account of the fact we got lost. The room was very small, we barely had any place to open our luggage. There was no heating. The lady said it will start some time during the night, but it did only in the morning when it was useless because we woke up and had to leave. All in all, we were grateful they finally let us check in later, but with a lot of coming back and forth.
We appreciated the fact they let us check in later with the help of someone coming by taxi to open the door for us. The lady was very nice, accommodating, she gave us a lot of tips about visiting Derry and about its history. She gave us a good breakfast. They have warm water and the location is clean.

ArgentinaThe place is great!!!The staff is amazing, so kind so helpful. They gave excellent tips and recommendations. And oh my goodness, breakfast was so delicious. The location is really good a few blocks away from the walled city. To doors away, there is a place that sells fish and chips that are so tasty and quite affordable. I will totally stay with them again. I 100% recommend it.

AustraliaBathroom was extremely small but ok for a short stay.
Location was excellent, walking distance to the walled city and very convenient to see the sights. Parking available on the street. Room was small with a very small bathroom. Excellent breakfast and a friendly & informative host who gave us advice on things to see and do. Small room was offset by location and and excellent host. Would stay again

United KingdomThe bedroom and bathroom were small - particularly the bathroom.
Had a 1 night stay in this B&B which is perfectly situated a 10 minute walk away from Guildhall in the center of Derry. Parking was easy (on street) and Kieran (our host) welcomed us and provided loads of information about where to eat - what to see etc etc. We were the last to book so unfortunately had a small room but it was adequate. The bathroom was very small and I had to sit sideways on the loo. That aside, we thought the location, hospitality, price and fantastic breakfast compensated for any small niggles and I would highly recommend Bishops Gate B&B for a short stay in Derry.

GermanyThe bathroom is tiny, you can barely turn around, there's no Wifi. Walls are thin, so we could hear our neighbors, but it didn't bother us. No staff on-site outside breakfast time.
Traditional B&B located just outside the walled town center. Free parking on the street, we always found a spot within the same block. Sweet and nicely decorated bedroom. Tasty Irish breakfast is served in the morning. The landlord was happy to share stories of his growing up in Derry.

IrelandThe coffee. I hate instant coffee!
When we arrived we were met by Ciarán, who greeted us warmly and gave us a map of Derry city. He marked recommended places for food and drinks. The house is spotlessly clean and bright and lovely. The bed was really comfortable and we slept so well. Breakfast was freshly made and was wonderful. We had a choice, Ulster fry or continental. We had the fry, it was delicious! There was a table in the dining room with pastries, individual boxes of different cereals, water, orange juice and fruit. Choice of tea or coffee. Freshly made toast. Staff here are lovely. Really friendly and helpful.
