Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt’s at the top, so many stairs. It was fine for us but not if you couldn’t manage stairs. Of course that is not a reflection on the apartment as it is clearly stated when booking
The property is beautiful. Very clean and welcoming. Everything you need for a self catering short stay. Communication is also very good and helpful. The stand alone bath a luxurious bonus Thank you our stay was lovely

United KingdomCould have had a mirror near the sockets in the corner of the room. The one over the bed was too far away for a short-shited person like me, when doing hair!
Self catering, although never ate in.

United KingdomJust a couple of little tweaks would have made our stay more comfy, maybe a cosy throw and more hooks in the bathroom.
Good communication from owners before and during our stay and recommendations on places to eat. We appreciated the welcoming card and box of chocs too. One evening, we ate at Coco & Rum. The food was very tasty Lovely apartment, clean and comfy. A good location with plenty of eating places nearby and near to the sea front.

United KingdomThe bed in the second bedroom wasn't very comfortable compared to the master bed. Very springy and firm, felt a bit cheap. It's a fair old trek up the four flights of stairs too but it didn't bother us really.
Beautifully decorated, fabulous master suite on top floor, lovely kitchen with everything you could possibly need to cook for yourself if you wanted to. Plenty of takeaways or restaurants/bars a short walk away if you don't! We didn't struggle to get parked either despite it being a busy bank holiday weekend.

United KingdomThere is a lamppost outside the bedroom window. A blockout blind has been provided but was awkward to access.
Everything I needed for a 3 night stay. Convenient to the grocery store and train station. Was a good size for single person.

United KingdomMy one niggle would be the noise leakage from upstairs (I was in a ground floor flat). I think another layer of soundproofing might be needed- the sounds of people walking around was loud and could also hear voices and snoring. Earplugs were needed.
The location was perfect, Sara so helpful and the property had everything you could need. Beautifully decorated and comfortable

United KingdomNothing that would stop me from using the property again. Dedicated parking for the property would be nice but you can park for free on the street outside. If booking the penthouse apartment be aware it involves a lot of stairs.
Great location with less than a minute walk to the seafront and numerous local amenities. Apartment was clean and spacious and well equipped. Felt very safe and secure.

United KingdomIt would be ideal to have a shower in the en-suite in the top floor bedroom which was very spacious and could easily accommodate one. The only other thing to pick up on was there was no pole to assist me to open and close the Velux blinds and if you are only 5ft 1in like me and you don't have a tall friend/partner at hand you have to use the steps provided.
The Sparrows Nest apartment is on the top floor of a terraced house, there are circa 55 steps to ascend. On arrival there was a lovely welcoming card from the host and some chocolates. The apartment can easily accommodate 4 persons, it is very stylish, has a good central heating system, very clean and has all the equipment and appliances you need for your stay. In one of the bedrooms there is an en-suite shower with toilet and sink, the other bedroom is located up a short flight of stairs off the open plan living/dining/kitchen area into a very large loft space. There is a large tub bath for two persons and it is located underneath a Velux window in the main area of the bedroom so on a clear night you can look at the moon/stars whist you relax. There is also an en-suite with toilet and sink. The host is easily contactable and responds very quickly to any questions. Pearl Street where the accommodation is, provides on street parking, it is quiet and at one end of the street you can walk to shops, restaurants and the train station and at the other end of Pearl Street is a pub that has Sky sports and sells bar snacks. It also leads you onto the Marine Parade whereby you are on the main stretch overlooking the sea. There is a road that you can drive on to take you down to the beach front, there is parking available, alternatively there are circa 175 steps to descend or there is the cliff tram system, normally operating between 9am - 4pm, which unfortunately at the time of writing this review April 2024, was not working because of fire damage. When you reach the front there is an arcade and pier to walk along with some benches to sit, alternatively there is walkway that leads you to cafe's, surfing classes and the vast sandy beach. There are seafood and steak restaurants within close proximity and also a pub selling classic pub meals.

United KingdomThe only thing we were unhappy with was the bed which was too soft - we both ended up with stiff necks. It was a shame that the cliff lift was out of action, but we knew about this before booking the accommodation.
The location was excellent with lots of dog friendly bars and pubs. The accommodation was clean with all of the facilities we needed, including a courtyard to let our dog out. We were also able to charge our electric car in Redcar whilst doing a little shopping. People in the area were really friendly and helpful and I would certainly recommend Number 23, (the pizza bar around the corner). Visitors to Teeside should also try the local specialty Chicken Parmo in it's various guises!

United KingdomApartment is a very short walk from the cliff top. Close to beach, shops, restaurants and bars. The apartment is lovely and very comfortable. We stopped in the ‘Sparrows Nest’ which is on the top floor but is worth the climb. The apartment is very spacious - plenty of room for suitcases and bags. Kitchen is well equipped. Both bedrooms are en-suite. Free standing bath was fabulous and lovely big towels.

United KingdomBedroom is a bit small, with quite tight space around the bed.
Really well appointed apartment in a great location. My daughter and I were in Shipwreck Cove, where we had a partial sea view from the bay window. Lots of thought given to what visitors might need during their stay. Loved having a small patio area to use. Useful information folders in apartment and a lovely welcome treat for us. I'd happily stay here again. Excellent communication with host.
