There was nothing to complain about.

I loved the quite peaceful location. The scenery is beautiful around the cottage. The river running beside the cottage was lovely, and the wildlife was amazing to watch.

This is a charming cozy riverside retreat to stay at with plenty of walks along the river or into the woods and is exactly like pictures on line. Alison and Bill, hosts, give you a warm welcome and are friendly and helpful. When shown around first thing put on was the kettle, for a welcome drink especially if you have had a long journey. Cups out with homemade flapjack was a treat. It is a peaceful and a get away from everything place, so don’t rely on internet signal. Plenty of small birds about and a hooting owl at night, with an otter or two to watch out for. There is a cabin and small summer house you can use to sit in with a cuppa and just relax. It suited us very well and dogs enjoyed it too. It can take you 20-30 mins to get to a good inn/ hotel for some food and I would recommend the Allanton Inn at Allanton, the Wheatsheaf at Swinton and the 1902 Bar at the Dunmuir Hotel, Dunbar. It was a lovely place to explore with plenty of walks, not too far from coast and we even got over to holy island. There is all you need for your stay, even a dishwasher. Enjoy.

There was nothing I didn't like. A perfect stay!

Truly loved my stay here. It's in such a relaxing location! The unit itself was spacious and well appointed, comfortable and calm. The hosts and their family were some of the kindest people I've met and they went out of their way to be sure I had everything I needed. 🥰 The river and the walk along the river were so peaceful -- exactly what I needed for my solo retreat. In addition to the spacious flat, there is also a lovely cabin overlooking the river and a cute little summer house that guests are allowed to use (on a first come first served basis, but I never had to wait for a turn.) An absolutely wonderful place and one I hope to return to! Also, the Scottish Borders are beautiful in every way and worthy of a visit!

The nature there is beautiful and the vacation home has a really nice garden to enjoy the surroundings during the day and to do some stargazing at night. The hosts were very kind and generous. The dishwasher was an unexpected but welcome bonus. FYI for dog owners: There is no fence around the house, so it is not possible to let your dog roam around in the garden unattended. However, a nice path into the woods and by the river to walk the dog.

I was a bit nervous of the long single track lane that led to the accommodation, as there were very few passing places.

The setting was stunning with river walks straight from the door, and birds nesting all around the cottage. Lots of interesting places to visit in the area, such as Duns and St Abbs. The owners were exceedingly hospitable.

Nothing to really complain about, we loved it.

Fantastic setting with scenic trails close by, all amenities available so didn't feel we needed anything more. Good views from accommodation too with added bird box outside kitchen, enjoyed seeing a Blue Tit nest building during our stay as well. Whilst there we met Alison and Bill who were super helpful. All in all a fantastic break away. Roads were quiet whilst we were investigating the area, felt remote and so part of countryside with more activity in the way of pubs/attractions 20 mins away.

We used the property as a base and we didn’t really get to see the beauty of the property itself. We needed more time 🥰

We loved Green Hope’s beautiful location next to a river and woods, nestled in the valley with beautiful views. The comfortable accommodation was a home from home with everything we needed to self cater for 10 people of all ages (and 2 dogs!). We were lucky enough to sit outside to eat most evenings and take a dip in the river most mornings. It was a joy to meet Alison and Bill and their family, we really felt like welcome guests. We took bikes and a kayak for mini adventures locally, and Green Hope was a great base for day trips to St Abbs, Coldingham Bay, Dunbar beach & Edinburgh. We had a truly memorable holiday

    Leaving Ellemford!

A warm welcome, spacious accommodation, an awesome river ideal for swimming, all in a remote location. Peace and quiet was what we found at Green Hope; with empty roads leading to a stunning coastline and Coldingham Sands just a stone’s throw away. We followed the White Adder River along the valley and walked up through the forest for hill top vistas and the view through our window was equally stunning! Duns, Melrose, Eyemouth, Berwick and historic Border Towns are all nearby. I’ve visited Scotland several times before and lived there for a while but the Borders are it’s best kept secret. We will definitely be going back!

The only complaint we has was we didn't stay for long enough.

Amazing. Hosts were the perfect hosts, there when you need them, but happy to let you crack on. Very friendly and helpful. The area in which the accommodation is situated is stunning, river 10 foot away, we even managed some river swimming which was lovely. Nearby there are a variety of things to do visit etc. But to be honest we cancelled plans to go through to Edinburgh etc as we felt it was too nice a place just to sleep in. Cant wait to go again!!! Will defo visit for longer.

Everything was just fine. A bit dated here and there, but it adds to the character of the property.

Great for adults and kids alike. The hosts have been great with our children. They were able to help feed the chickens and doves, learn about the plants and wildlife around the house. Away Fromm the stresses of life.
