Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHotel facade is very shabby and desparately needs a coat of paint. Areas throughout the hotel need decorating. Net curtains at windows needed ironing, as did the bedding. We had the impression that this was a work-in-progress hotel.
Very clean hotel. Our bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Bedroom was spacious and quiet. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food, at both dinner and breakfast was good.

United KingdomThe hotel was described as having a 'soft opening' and quite a few staff seemed unaware of how things were done- I had paid for dinner, bed and breakfast and should have been given a voucher at check in but wasn't and the dining room did not put this right. It wasn't until I went to check out that this was put right by a very polite and competent member of staff. The room was very hot despite having no heating on, the fan provided was effective but I couldn't sleep with it on. The dinner was ok, I had a chicken dish, the meat was cooked well but the potato and veg felt like an after thought and a small portion. I think more veg would have been better.
Comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom, friendly receptionist, easy to find and park. I enjoyed the breakfast, although people that arrived after me were upset that the hot dishes were not being replenished. There was a fair choice of fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries and hot food. The waitress at dinner was very friendly.

United KingdomBotleighy Grange will once all the works are finished be a very very good place to stay.
With it's location just on the outskirts of a big city Botleighy Grange is ideally situated away from the hustle and bustle of that big city.

United KingdomOld shower still left in room with an over the bath mixer tap that goes cold regularly bedroom still a little tired and needs refurbishment. No ironing facilities in room!!
Great staff who were very attentive and welcoming. Hotel just opening up again and more needs to be done in decoration to the rooms and exterior of this lovely property to restore its glory. Restaurant and lounge has been tastefully refurbished and looks great and once the rest of the property is finished it will be an exceptional hotel. Breakfast was delicious and well cooked with great sausages and bacon coffee also great and plentiful.

United KingdomThe front of the hotel looks a little dated and needs a coat of paint, but once inside it's beautiful.
The hotel is very clean, staff were lovely and welcoming, and the full English breakfast was amazing. The grounds are beautiful.

United KingdomWe were visiting Southampton so it was a bit far away but despite that I would probably choose it again as it was so lovely. The restaurant menu was a bit limited and I didnt see a salad option, however they did give me a side salad when I requested it.
Beautiful hotel and setting, lovely room, large bed, extra pillows, fast filling bath and amazing staff. Good variety at breakfast, we had a tasty full English. Restaurant in the evening so we could just stay and chill.

United KingdomThe rooms are large with a high ceiling but may be warm in a hot summer as they have no air conditioning, the pillows were deep which is good if you like them deep but not so if you like thin pillows. The shower is a combined bath and shower with a deep side so you may like to ask if you have mobility issues.
Wonderful period hotel that is so different from the modern box like rooms. Large room and beautiful decor with suitable furniture it felt like staying in part like a TV set rather than a modern hotel. The bed was comfortable and the whole ambiance was great. First views from the outside were a little worrying depending upon what you were expecting to see but the inside was completely different. The sink was a good size with a good water supply and bathroom was a large size that you could swing a bath towel around within.

United KingdomIf, like me, you don’t eat cooked breakfast then the food on offer for breakfast was a bit limited. There was very little fresh fruit - I would have liked porridge and bananas, but neither was available.
The staff were very cheerful and friendly. The room and bathroom were large and comfortable, with very nice toiletries, but some of the furnishings were old fashioned (and the wardrobe had a very squeaky door!). Parts of the building and gardens still need work, but I would definitely stay there again.

United KingdomWi-Fi didn't work in the room. The tv was struggling for a signal on the first night which could of been due to it being Saturday and busier, but was fine the other nights.

United KingdomThere was a cracked plug socket in the room (which I highlighted at check out). I would still however like to go back when it’s fully restored.
The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. Great communication through the whole process. It was made clear on booking that the property is under renovation and therefore some of the facilities were unavailable. I opted for breakfast and there was a good selection both continental / cooked breakfast items available on the buffet.

United KingdomSafety rail over bath, to help residents with difficulties, to have something to hold onto when stepping in to these large baths. Let customers know at the time of booking, if the lifts aren't working. Old toilet system in the bedroom, that didn't flush properly. Make sure everything is available to customers. eg. first morning, had to ask for butter at breakfast. Both mornings had to ask for ketchup. Very small fruit and meat selection. Cab cards at reception desk. One day they were available. The next day they weren't. Power turned of in the rooms in the afternoon of my first day. No warning or reason given. these are all small easy to fix points, that would just make your hotel even better.
Staff extremely polite and helpful. They were very customer aware. Rooms were large and comfortable. Prices of food and drink were reasonable. Nice background relaxing music always playing. lovely approach to the hotel, with ample parking.

United KingdomAlthough the spa and lifts were not operational, this did not affect our stay as we were staying at the hotel as we had booked a restaurant locally.
Warm and inviting welcome from the lovely and very helpful receptionist. The hotel is bright and clean with touches of grandeur fused with features of 17th century. Impressive superior room overlooking the lake at the rear. Room was quiet, comfortable and clean. Bathroom was a little tired, however clean and functional with ample supply of hot water for a bath.

United KingdomNo lift, the room was very hot, we asked staff if the room heating could be reduced but it stayed the same. The windows only opened a very small way so air not flowing and extremely hot. No phone in the rooms. The hairdryer was trapped in the drawer so unable to plug it in without removing the drawer. Sharp cracked tile in the bathroom.
The location, the age of the building. Lovely big room. Sad the spa was closed.
