Room and hotel in general is looking tired, clean but in need of some TLC. But when you pay the price for a night we paid it is unrealistic to expect a 5 star experience.

Venue is known for having live music and the covers band Randy and the Rockets rocked the place. The staff are friendly and attentive.

Breakfast wasn't included - we knew this when we booked but we got the impression that breakfast used to be included in the price so at £90 we thought it was a bit steep. Only enough milk for 1 x cup of tea each (know we could have asked for more but that would have meant coming donwstairs after we'd woken up)

Great position of hotel for visiting friends in the area. Good to have its own private car park. Nice sized room and the shower was good power and nice and hot.

The Staff is very friendly but if one has a problem or question, it is better to speak directly face to face, as over the phone some misunderstoods occur.

The room was clean and I appreciated that I could turn the radiator on and that immediately it became warm! I also appreciated, that the Hotelmanager organized a room for me where the noises from festivities weren't loud and I could sleep well. That the key-card also is used for monitoring the light is very useful. It is a historic building with his own history and is very british.

That the manager of the hotel was so bussy all the time, and had no time to answer questions in a good way.

I loved that it was cosy and and not too modern. The cleaniness and the fysical environment was perfect. I liked very much that there was an organic cafe across the street

The decor in our room was rather old-fashioned and the room a little bit dark. It is an old building and requires some updating. However, it was clean, had everything we needed and was reasonable value for money (by UK standards).

Staff were very helpful. Prior to our stay, we were forewarned about a party taking place on the evening of our stay and were offered a quieter room, which we took. Also staff were very helpful when my husband discovered he had left his jacket in the room. The hotel packed it up and forwarded it on for us.

The hotel could do with a facelift, but our room was a good size, and the bed was comfortable. Our only gripe was that the shower head holder was broken, so you had to hold the head in your hand to use. I told the staff who offered to get someone to look at it, but as we were only there for one night, I asked if they could leave it until we checked out. We had an evening meal in the bar which was good as were the staff.

Like any older building, it creaks and the rooms could use better ventilation, but it was overall a minor issue.

I really enjoyed the coziness is the hotel. I feel the whole building has a lot of history and has seen a lot over it's many years of service. The staff was lovely and the food served at the restaurant was delicious!

We didn't have a single bed for our LG, she had to share our double bed, there wasn't much room for us. Didn't sleep too well. There was no main light in the room, was difficult to get ready in the morning.

Again, we only paid £70.......the room and bathroom are tired. Perfectly clean but things tend to not be quite right. For example, the mattress didn't fit the bed base by a long way ! No big deal but typical of the overall situation.

Remembering we only paid £70 (could have been £60 if we hadn't gone up to a deluxe" category, the property offers decent value. Bear in mind, you're in the south east of England and prices CAN be daft !
