Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United KingdomWhen we got there got told not to use one of the bathrooms but it was more the whole second bedroom as it stank (toilet leak up stairs) There was NO cooking facilities and considering it was an apartment I thought there would of been pans and pots too actually cook with I can't say I've taken pots&pans away with me before. As we was leaving the security staff at the apartment blocked asked the room we stayed in we told them they snatched the keys off us and told us we had been staying in a ILLEGAL B&B. There was also NO hot water we was told too turn a boiler on and still didn't come out They scared my children with how they spoke too us. I DONT RECOMMEND I'm just thankful I wasn't thrown out before hand as I had my children. Very scary

It was a scam, there is no pin code lock box at this site, security on site confirmed there is nothing like this at the apartments.

Terrible experience. An hour before check-in we were called to say the apartment was double booked, we were offered another accommodation in a different area we'd not even seen photos of, we were obviously unsure what to do as it was my daughter's birthday and we were on our way. We declined the other property as we'd booked this one due to location and the fact it looked nice, we were offered some money back if we stayed in the other one and they guy just kept haggling, after explaining we just wanted a refund we were told ok. 2 weeks later after numerous call to them and booking.com we still have no refund, they have been marked as high risk and are under investigation to see if the apartment even exists. Complete disregard for us and the money they have taken, the guy I speak to when I call just doesn't care, fobs me off saying we need to assess the situation. Luckily booking.com will refund me and invoice them but no thanks to them. Do not book this property unless you want to wait a month for your refund and have to make constant calls, definitely dodgy and I doubt it exists!

United KingdomThe heating didn’t work at all and there were no instructions on how to use it. There wasn’t enough bedding for our party despite the property being pre informed. The shower screen was detached and left in the bathtub. The flooring was sticky. There aren’t any mirrors, only one inside a wardrobe door. The property owner had some bedding sent and removed the shower screen to a cupboard. The heating wasn’t fixed. The place was freezing cold and unusable, not fit for purpose, there was no offer of any solution regarding the heating. We asked for a refund and were told no because we had stayed there instead of seeking an alternative property, the problem with that is we would have missed the event we had booked if we had done that. If the property should reply with any different version of events, know they are lying, we have proof.
