Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CroatiaEverything was great. Small room, loud street sometimes- but, overall great.
Clean, comfortable and near a lot of restaurants and shops in a busy street. The bathroom is fantastic. Nice TV, nice bed and very polite hosts.

Germany- very noisy outside, because the windows aren't insulated very well (maybe that's a German quirk) - no elevator for heavy luggage available - quite steep stairs - internet connection was a bit unstable - I had great difficulties finding the entrance as it was hidden in a side street and it's been dark outside already
- very friendly staff and good communication - convenient location within London and not far from the station - many restaurants close by - simple, but clean - bed was comfortable - air conditioner worked and was clean - very much appreciated in summer

Great location. Room was clean and had a great shower - better than those found in Travelodge, which is kind of a similar price bracket (if not higher). A great find!

Good value for money. The receptionist showed us our room and told us how to get in and out of the property. The room is clean with comfy beds.

United KingdomThe bathroom sink was too small and the shower and the WiFi is not strong. There is a steep stairs that is impossible to climb with large luggage and you can hear everything happening in the building.
The room is a good size with the smallest TV. The location is excellent if you like restaurants and cafes.

United KingdomThe room itself had marks on all of the walls, some brown, some yellow, and all not nice to look at. The pillows are so thin we all found it extremely hard to sleep on them, the hotel is not very accessible with it being on the 2nd floor but there are a lot of stairs to some of the rooms on the higher floors.
The room was well furnished, it had amenities and air-con which was appreciated in the summer months, and it was a great location, very easy to get to from the tube and only a short walk from lots of bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and it was easy to find. Good value for money, as it was fairly cheap.

New ZealandDespite notices on all the doors asking guests to be considerate and keep the noise down, they don't. This goes on right through the night and the hotel is not very soundproof. Pack your earplugs.
The hotel is as described in the reviews; unbeatable value for money, very clean, spacious by London standards. What we weren't expecting was the commentary from multiple Jack the Ripper tours under our bedroom window every evening - apparently poor Polly met her demise in a nearby lane! The area is edgy and arty, if you like Indian cuisine you'll be spoilt for choice. The nearest underground station, Aldgate East, and Whitechapel Art Gallery are just around the corner.

United KingdomCleanliness could be improved, in particular bed sheets and pillow cases. The location is good as it is close to the tube, the area could be a bit noisy at times, but that's Brick Lane so you expect it if you are familiar with London

United StatesYou can't drink the water in the hotel. They provide you free bottled water but...
This was the most spacious room we've had in London!!! We LOVED the neighborhood (we are vegetarians so the plethora of Indian food and Asian foods was a dream!) Its also a historical hotel (Jack the Ripper tours came by!) Its advertised as no-elevator but it was very easy to access for us (we have no health issues), its basically a total of 20 steps, so don't let the lack of a lift put you off (unless, of course, you need a lift...) There is no cleaning service while you stay, but that was ok for us. All the facilities worked (AC, Wifi, and the TV had tons of channels and options...) Terrific staff! So helpful! Convenient location!

United KingdomThere is no lift so it is not accessible for wheelchair users or people with poor mobility. Heavy luggage would have also been a pain! The carpet outside the rooms (stairs) was painfully red. They could benefit from a different flooring (hopefully avoiding carpets of any colour!)
Perfect location for what we needed to do in London. Affordable price that allowed us to enjoy our hobby in London without being bankrupt. The shower had great water pressure and a wide range of temperatures, I really enjoyed the shower in a place that would be perhaps defined as low-cost hotel? (again, due perhaps to its location) The room was airy and clean in an area that you may perhaps define as less tidy. For the price we paid, other hotels are normally clean with less diligence. I feel that the cleaner of this property deserves recognition. The bed (mattress and pillow) was very comfortable.

United StatesLocation great. Super short walk from Aldgate East station. Access to hotel a little confusing but we called the phone number given and a lovely guy (Shah?) immediately appeared and showed us the way and even carried our suitcase up the 2 flights of stairs. Room was nicely equipped and we actually had a really good nights sleep. Given what we paid for the room, we have no complaints at all.
