How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room was spotlessly clean, the food was lovely and the staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. They were also extremely accommodating when we had to leave earlier than planned.

Everything met with our expectations.
We had a wonderful weekend at the Bridgend Hotel made all the more memorable by the beautiful weather. Everyone both management and staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful..our rooms, one family one de luxe twin/double were beautiful with excellent decor and facilities. Both breakfast and evening meals were excellent..full Scottish breakfast in particular was amazing and delicious! Bridgend Hotel is an excellent central point for exploring the island and will not disappoint.

The WiFi was not very good in my room but I was probably in one of the furthest away rooms from the WiFi.
The location is beautiful and in a quiet area, the beds are supper comfy and the rooms are nice. For me felt a bit pricey but all the hotels are in Islay and its peak season so it is what it is.

We had a double bed which was too, and would have preferred large double(queen).

What’s not to like. The BH is. The centre of the island to head north or south. The food and friendliness of the staff were great.

Nothing at all!
Staff very friendly and helpful, the people on reception on checking in and out and especially Talyor our waitress. Lovely food and very accommodating to us changing the time. Lovely to receive a complimentary glass of fizz for our anniversary too, a really nice touch :)

The area along the front of the property is very uneven and can be difficult to walk on

The breakfast was poor because the head chefs were away , they were Back for our final breakfast and it was excellent. The kitchen staff that stood in for than were poor.

Loved it all especially the special whiskey bar. We cycled all weekend and the hotel staff stored our bikes safely each day.
The hotel was beautiful, comfy room, excellent food and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The manager Ian was exceptional and couldn't do enough to make our stay a brilliant one.

Only thing I would say was the ensuite was a little bit tired, toilet seat could do with replacing and the top of the tap was missing. This is why I said a 9 instead of a 10

I liked everything
Very comfortable beds, good food and very friendly staff. Great Price which included breakfast. Plenty of private parking. The hotel is in an excellent central location on the island in easy reach of all the main settlements.

Beautiful hotel , staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Evening meal superb, as was breakfast.would highly recommend this hotel. Dog friendly and great walk from the doorstep. Ideal location being central on the island. Have been back for lunch and was just as good !
