Nice hotel but check there isn't a wedding reception on or coach trip in whilst you're staying

Buffet breakfast was average and not that hot. We had better breakfasts at Maison Rose in Market Bosworth and Five Fox Lane in Leicester. Phone signal everywhere in the hotel was rubbish. Internet in the rooms was chargeable (but we did know this before we went) or non-existent including 4G which seems pretty archaic in 2024. Our room was not cleaned the first day of our stay and when I asked at Reception I was told you have to request daily housekeeping! Strange but fair enough I suppose but no-where in the hotel was this written or were we told this. The older lady who checked us in was quite rude and unhelpful (although this might have been due to stress due to the number of people checking in at the time). On the Sunday around 4.30 pm we say in the bar reading our book and had to listen to a lone drunk woman effing and blinding whilst she talked to another guest who didn't know her. In the end we went back to our room. The staff didn't say or do anything.

Location of hotel was perfect for us. You just need to walk through the car park and you are in the town. Very close to Bosworth Battlefield and easy to get into Leicester. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Bed was large and comfortable. Coffee machine in the room with plenty of coffee pods. This is a big hotel with over 200 rooms and unfortunately there was a wedding on the Saturday and 2x coaches in (I don't know if they were connected) so there were a lot of noisy people around in reception, the bar and outside our room. We would have enjoyed our stay more if it hadn't started off on this footing. They had all gone on the Sunday and the hotel was a normal hotel again (apart from 1x episode below).

Bedroom was tired, we were on the ground floor which isn’t where you shouldn’t stay. The floorboards above creak badly, we retired late but was woken at 6am with people above getting ready to leave, omg it took them an hour, and in the time there was no way you could sleep.

Stunning hotel/hall keeping a lot of the period features.

You are expected to pay £4 extra for the spa and a £1 for a towel. WiFi is £7 per 24 hours per device so I didn't get any studying done on my laptop. I wouldn't have minded but being in a lower ground floor room it blocked my own signal on my phone. It was also very cold and they did give me a radiator but it didn't reach the bathroom which was freezing. It didn't help that the hot water was luke warm, so my most looked forward to bath was a disaster 😢

I stayed with my dog and they were very accommodating. The building and gardens were absolutely amazing beyond my expectations. The gardens were a little haven and the bed was very comfy. Definitely worth the fee. The staff were lovely but had a stress point bless them with a huge group booking just as I arrived. They were very lovely and accommodating after that.

Maybe a little tired in my room... cobwebs, curtain not attached properly (which I mended), TV handset wouldn't turn off the set, so I had to turn it off at the wall..... also, I couldn't get ITV1. My biggest gripe would be the radiator being on all the time. The thermostat wouldn't turn it down or off, so I had two windows open all night. There was also an annoying background noise (water running in pipes I think), that kept me awake for much of my first night. The second night I was very tired, so it didn't impact on me as much, ... and I put tissue in my ears! Maybe should have said something to staff, but as I say, I only really needed the bed and bath and a quick breakfast. Paid for parking on the App for the first night, by mistake. I don't feel the signs saying guests park free are clear enough.

Lovely, impressive facade to drive up to. Comfortable enough, staff friendly and professional. Good for my needs - all I needed was a bed to sleep, and breakfast. Breakfast was adequate.

Reception was empty when we arrived and we waited around 20mins for someone to check us in . Our room was tired and didn’t really match the pictures advertised. Bed was very hard, i really struggled to sleep as it was like sleeping on wood unfortunately. There were some hairs in the bed but the rest of the room looked ok .

Beautiful building and a fair price for an overnight stay and breakfast for two . Staff were friendly ( however they seemed under staffed )

The breakfast area was cold, why ? Because the main entrance door mechanism failed to close after each person went through it.? I never had breakfast for that reason and nobody noticed. The staff especially.

This is where I was born and bred. It’s such a shame that the staff didn’t know enough about the area. If I was a real tourist I’d be dissapionted with the lack of knowledge. This venue has so much history, an area which I knew more than the staff themselves. Not their fault , but the money grabbing company Brittania, who fail to recognise its true potential.

Reception staff - very confusing, which is not what you need after a long journey. Bathroom had mildew, shabby decor and rusty sink. View from window - cars and a pile of rubbish.

I have such mixed feelings about our stay at this hotel. The staff on reception were confusing whilst the staff in the restaurant and in particularly the spa were very welcoming and helpful. There was confusion on our room booking though I’d double checked our details in advance. The room we had was a good size for our family and the beds comfortable however the bathroom had not received a deep clean and the decor pretty shabby and in need of tlc. The biggest disappointment was that I’d checked many times that my family could join us in the restaurant for Xmas only to find out on that morning that our dog could not sit under the table. We understood but this info could have been expressed in advance. Consequently our party of 13 had to find another location at the last minute to celebrate our Xmas get together. This created stress that I could have done without. Other than that the hotel itself seemed beautiful, especially in the main hall - I’m just sorry we didn’t get to spend our special evening there as we’d hoped for and so I came away a bit disheartened at what was to be a special stay. It felt that we’d spent most of the time elsewhere.

Under staffed over Xmas / new year. Long queues at the bar, just one bar man in evening doing his best. No info about the building. Had to Google. Would be nice to have something to read about the place, its history etc in the rooms.

We did no sleep very well due too a squeaking mattress or bed frame? Pillows were too firm with no other choice available. Breakfast was good, however, hot drinks were not available due to the machine being broken.

Location is very good, room decor was a little dated but very clean. Overall we had a good experience for the price of the room we paid.

Our bedroom was fine for a two night stay. Seemed clean but the bathroom is ancient old and in dire need of replacement. A walk in shower would be far preferable to an over-bath shower. Toilet lid was thin plastic and it took ages for the cistern to refill. For the smaller rooms in the hotel, light furniture and furnishings would be better so that the room would not look so gloomy. Can absolutely understand the big, grand suites having the dark wood since it complements the grandeur of the building, but the smaller annexed rooms should have a lighter, more contemporary decor. The cooked breakfast had no vegan options, which was disappointing. But oat milk was available on request.

Beautiful building, in lovely surroundings but tired in places and needs some renovation. The beauty therapist who gave us our spa treatments was excellent, especially since she had to treat the five of us herself whilst covering for a colleague who couldn’t manage her shift on the afternoon of Thu 21 Dec. A big pat on the back for her!

The spa was closed but I'd had no communication stating this. It was the main reason for choosing the hotel. We had decided on "dinner, bed and breakfast ", there was no choice of menu but a buffet style Christmas Dinner and we were squeezed in right next to where people were trying to get desert, it was very uncomfortable. So much so we left without desert.

The building itself looks amazing, especially lit up for Christmas.
