Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWhen checking in I was advised there was no rooms available that I booked in advance and would need to pay for breakfast to then get a room. I did not want to have breakfast in the hotel the next morning but was made to feel that if I did not pay for that then I would not be able to have a room. Upon arriving to the room I checked the hotels own website which was still selling the room I had booked online with 6 rooms available. Breakfast was not worth the money paid for it

United KingdomThe above, I paid over a £100 extra for a superior room and my room was exactly the same as the one I paid £273 for, that Ricky Davies stayed in, I ordered it. Really disappointing. I felt ripped off and when I complained to management, they just apologised and said that they had over booked !!!!
I ordered two rooms, one superior suite 326, and paid £389.40 for it, as it was my wifes birthday, and the other 325 a family room at £273, you can imagine my disappointment when I discovered that both rooms were exactly the same, family rooms !!! I paid over a £100 extra for nothing !

United KingdomAll in all for £42 I paid I don’t think you can expect any better as I was expecting after listening to others to have a difficult night. I wouldn’t change it. Door key was easy to use, it was sound.
I was told after booking to watch out and that it was a bad hotel where there is theft and possibly people who may assault others etc I can only say to anyone who asks that it was absolutely value for money, i watch a little tv. Had a decent a nights sleep and was able to have a shower etc before I set off for my train journey. To me it was problem free, clean, tidy, staff we great, security were great and kept the trouble away from your hotel as I stepped outside for a cigarette and there was people arguing and shouting a little up the street but it was bliss inside your hotel. I’d come back again

United KingdomNot great at all. We were put in a different room to what we had booked, we booked a double room with sitting area & sofa, but were put in a triple room with a double and two singles, no good for us as we had no use for the two single beds, the tv was on the wall in front of the single beds rather than in front of the double as per the room we had booked. We booked for tuesday & wednesday night and on wednesday morning someone let themselves in to our room with a key card, they should have known that the room was booked up to thursday, I went to the reception to tell them what happened and all I got was a piece of paper with an email address on it telling me to email.. whilst I was staying at the hotel?? Surely there was someone who could have looked into this at the time rather than telling me to send an email as if I wasn’t standing right there in front of the hotel staff at the time. The vending machine in the main lobby took my money twice and didn’t give me my items both times, I complained and they told me to come back later both times… to no avail. The hotel is very dated, the rooms are all 1900’s style, everything from the beds, to the kettles & light fixtures are extremely dated, most modern thing in the rooms are the tv’s and even they are pre 2010 with no wifi / smart tv settings. Vending machines are all very old and take coins only, no card payments. There are no sockets near the beds. We paid £185 for 2 nights, which is expensive considering they don’t seem to invest any money into the hotel or the rooms to modernise them at all. Plenty of other hotels that are cleaner, more organised and very modernised for the same amount if not less money. We stayed in manchester last month in another hotel that was completely modern, clean, amazing facilities & great staff for just £64 per night.. wish we would have booked the same one rather than trying the britania.
Beds are comfy, although extremely worn and paint has come off the wood work all around the bed. Shower was very good, powerful and hot.
