Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLots of steps/stairs, including a very high step at front door, although it's not down as an accessible property, i think this should be mentioned in your listing. My mum had very weak legs and couldn't get up the stairs. Thankfully there is a downstairs loo. Other than that nothing else we didn't like.
Beautiful character cottages. Ours (Bronte Owl) was very quirky. Access to the secret garden via one of the bedrooms. The owners were on hand if we needed anything. Gorgeous area. Fabulous village shop across the road. We celebrated my mum 80th birthday there and she was so happy with it. We cooked every day and the kitchen had everything we needed including lots of serving dishes.

United KingdomVery difficult to control temperature of over bath shower. As a tall person I needed to raise height of en-suite shower head but it wouldn't stay up. Very minor issues in an otherwise fantastic property.
Beautifully appointed cottage with everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable and well heated. Huge hot tub. Responsive hosts. Easy to check in and out. Great countryside location with well stocked village shop. Short distance to larger towns.

United KingdomThe wi-fi was poor and we were not able to use it for what we needed it for. The wood burner was very old so we only used it one evening but this did not cause any problem to us as the central heating was very good and the cottage remained warm.
We enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The cottage was very comfortable, clean , tidy and warm. It had a very cosy homely atmosphere. The central heating was very good and there was plenty of hot water. The shower was really good. The kitchen had all the necessary equipment needed and the bedrooms were nice and spacious.and the beds very comfortable. The cottage was in walking distance to the village shop and in a good location for travelling around the wye valley. It was a pity the village restaurant/pub was closed down.

Our second visit to this lovely little cottage! We love the beautiful village of Lea and the relaxing feel of the cottage. Lovely and clean, beds super comfy, hot tub and pool table are a hit with the kids. Lovely place to spend quality family time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! We will be back again next year! Thanks!

United KingdomFelt like the property was miss advertised with the photos and glad I checked before we left. Garden set up is a bit wierd with having to go through the neighbours garden to get to the top with the dogs. Kitchen ceiling is very low and anyone over 5'11" ig going to be stooping.
Lovely house, although not as advertised. Thought we had a hot tub and a pool table, but three houses are advertised under one set of photos. Luckily one of the houses was empty and we were able to use that hot tub with the agreement of the letting company. Close to Ross on wye (10 min drive) great parking at the Ross Rowing club.

United KingdomNot the cottage but the advertised local pub has been closed for a while. Having never used one before I feel it should be clear that we were responsible for maintaining the hot tub and emptying the dehumidifier whether or not we were using it.
The cottage had all facilities needed for our stay .having towels provided was a useful extra . The room with the hot tub gave an extra space that was helpful during the day and would be a good space for stays later in the season.rooms were comfortable and the kitchen, though small, had everything needed. Position was ideal to navigate around the Forest of Dean. Local shop was great and very friendly the Berry Hut was a novelty for fresh fruit and eggs.

Lovely cottage. All the comfort if home. The dog friendly element was most important for us. We had a good family time. Lovely walks and nearby towns. Next time might apply for the one with a hot tub but it wasn't majorly important. Thank you

United Kingdomlovely cottage. Everything we needed. Only thing I would suggest is a runner in the bedroom as it leads to the top area of the garden and although our dog had very small paws it would be easier to keep clean. Not an issue as we used the one from the lounge. We had an amazing time and would definitely book again.

The super cute adorable cottage was very well appointed and clean. Well located for Cannop cycle trails. Great little local shop at the bottom of the road. We stayed in the middle cottage (Owl) and had the benefit of a lovely garden room where we sat with some prosecco one evening. Thanks to Phil for arranging a new WiFi router! Had a fab stay!

We loved everything. We wanted a relaxing break away and this is exactly what we got. The lovely little village of Lea was the perfect setting, very calm and peaceful. The local shop had everything we needed for our stay, however there was a Morrison’s 10 minutes away. The cottage itself was beautiful, lots of character and clean and tidy. We had a lovely time using the hot tub and playing pool. There was a bbq set up ready for us which we happily used one night. Dog friendly and the garden was plenty big enough for our boy to run around and explore.

United KingdomIt was a bit of a hassle having to go upstairs and through a bedroom to get out into the garden, but once there it was a nice spot. It just made eating meals out there a bit difficult, so we used the little paved area outside the kitchen, but it was tiny. We managed though, and it wouldn't deter us from using the property again.
We had plenty of room for two couples, one single, a toddler and a dog. The space worked really well for us. The hosts were great; really friendly and welcoming. We had one small issue with the coffee maker, which upon letting them know they resolved literally within minutes, to our complete satisfaction. Very impressive reaction! The beds were really comfortable and the bedrooms good sizes. Although the shower pressure wasn't fantastic, it was certainly adequate, and better than expected after having read some of the reviews. They provided beautifully thick, large bath towels - the best we've ever had anywhere!
