How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

What sounded like a boiler in the background coming off and on. Some people mentioned the smell of cigarettes when walking in the building. I thought a little bit of a damp smell maybe? Wasn't a massive inconvenience. But worth noting.
You get what you pay for. Room was comfy and clean. Had a good night's sleep. Only used the room to get changed in and sleep, so was perfect for that.

No food available. Reception and hallways smelt quite bad. However the room itself was fine.

The facilities provided were basic - don’t expect a ‘smart tv’ (although there was a decent sized tv with the basic channels and teletext) or free Wi-Fi or more than 2 tea bags/ 2coffees & 2small milk pods for 3days.
The receptionist/manager of the hotel was pleasant. Our spacious room was clean, the large double bed was comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. The room was also quiet. The hotel is 15minutes walk from the city centre and also on many bus routes.

The facilities are perhaps a little tired and there was some rust in the shower. The area is obviously undergoing a lot of change with new student accommodation being built, it’s a shame some of the local business nearby have suffered.
The property was quiet, close to the city centre and offered free parking. There is lots of places nearby for food and the traffic is not too bad on the road in from.

It was quite smelly. Body odour, quite strongly, mainly in communal areas, but the rooms were better and aired out well

There wasn't a fridge in the room and the tea & coffee sachets were minimal and not replenished. Luckily we bought our own, but that's only minor.
Close to the University's that we were visiting on an open day.

As you walked into the hotel it had a strong smell of cigarettes and as a none smoker it was off putting and first impression was if it smells like this what will the rooms be like but the room was very comfortable and didn’t have the cigarette smell.
The gentleman that greeted us was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy and comfortable bed.

For the price you really couldn't ask for anything more, the room was clean, Beds were quite comfy, had a en suite bathroom. Check in and Check out went completely smoothly.

There is a sheet metal pressing factory next door! This is a great piece of working history (see the original Victorian brick entrance), but it does start 'pressing' from probably about 6am, so there is a dull background thump you can hear - not loud noise, just a muffled background low thump. Probably less noise than being next to a busy road but one for sensitive sleepers to be aware of (it didn't bother me)
A basic hotel, rooms only, but just what was needed for a one night / one person stay very close to the Royal Armouries Museum. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable; ensuite; tea and coffee making tray. There is no breakfast (stopped in COVID19 times they told me), but there is a very nice coffee shop/breakfast place in the Leeds Dock area just outside the Royal Armouries
