Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe breakfast was a little cold in the morning and they didn’t de ice the road all the way to our allocated parking spot which was a tad awkward for us to get to
The whole place was just stunning to look at especially in the snow! Abbie at the front desk so helpful to us answering all our little questions and got us early into our room as my little one has a few issues, even in the evening the bar staff were always really quick to see us and help, also the morning we got seen to my the morning staff and seated straight away too!! The breakfast was a little cold when we got there but it was near the end of service anyway so we didn’t expect much food left really, but overall an snaking place to stay!

United KingdomFurnishings & kitchen equipment need upgrade. Such a shame as the place is stunning.
We took our dog so was in a lodge. & Spacious clean. The equipment ie TV oven kitchen units need upgrading. Shabby. We’re put in the furthest lodge possible. Even though explained husband has issues walking. Car space is 300 metres away so bringing in luggage was difficult. Grounds are beautiful. Main house stunning. Restaurant also very shabby with stained furnishings.

United KingdomOur room was looking very slightly "tired" and we did have a minor plumbing issue. We were told by Reception personnel that room refurbishment is scheduled for early next year. None of this really detracted from our stay.
The historical splendour of the Grade 1 listed building and lovely parkland setting. The cooked breakfast was very good as well, with a good selection of items available. Our room (Canterbury) was exceptionally large and bed super comfy.

United KingdomArriving at 8.15pm it was dark, it wasn't clear where to park. I walked around the entire building as the sign for reception wasn't illuminated and the closed big wooden doors were dark. Signage would be very helpful. The dining room had a number of tables available but I was seated 3 inches from an occupied table, we agreed it was a strange choice. It was very thoughtful of the hotel to heat the rooms up but it was too hot for sleeping in, turning off the heaters there was one that didn't have an off switch but there was a window to open. There was a distinct lack of pictures, just wallpaper.
The room was more a suite, with a separate TV lounge, separate kitchenette area, hallway, bathroom and large bedroom. Someone had turned all the heaters on to warm up the large space. It was clean and all the necessary fixtures and facilities including a mini fridge with bottled water which was very welcome. Cooked breakfast was quick which was important as I was working locally, dinner was tasty and well served. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

United KingdomBar and public hall/reception area cold and draughty. Would have been disappointed if I had booked the hotel expecting a cosy break. Only one open fire that was lit but was kept very low so didn't throw out much heat.
Bedroom at front or property bright, clean, comfortable and warm but as usual with lots of hotels, lacks a decent mirror over dressing table to be able to sit and do hair/make up. Plumbing noisy - think it was a Saniflo system? There to attend a wedding and the organisation and service at that was very good. Breakfast choice and quality adequate.

United KingdomUnfortunately due to the age of the hotel, there was no central heating - only electric heaters so definitely a summer hotel. The curtains and carpet in our room could do with replacing as curtains were torn and carpets stained
Hotel had beautiful grounds, food was lovely and our hotel room turned out to be a self contained flat pretty much

United StatesOur room needed to be updated, there was some left behind items under the furniture, and a false widow spider was left on the ceiling of our bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The pool could use an update and you can only book 30 min slots but people just showed up halfway through and stayed for the next slot, so I guess it doesn’t get enforced. The food was overpriced and not well cooked; my dinner was very fishy but also had no salt, my breakfast was completely over cooked the eggs were the consistency of hard boiled, my £4 smoothie was just larger than a shot glass. Overall I would stay again but be much more selective about room choice.
The main areas and the grounds were so lovely.

United KingdomThe lady who asked us our room number at breakfast. She was so incredibly rude!!! Honestly we were very upset by her. Also the rooms are advertised as having baths, which they do not. We did book this hotel especially for having a bath.
Our room was absolutely beautiful! It was absolutely stunning, as is the hotel itself. The staff were ever so lovely (apart from one lady) food was fantastic and the gin in the room was such a lovely touch. Thankyou. We received a lovely welcome too.

United KingdomThere was a light in a cupboard that kept switching on and off throughout day and night. The water system is old so is pretty noisy (but that's quite normal for old properties, I guess). It would be good to reserve parking directly outside the hotel for guests staying at the hotel, as they will have bags etc.
Breakfast was outstanding, and the staff all very accommodating. The room was very comfortable too.

United KingdomThe room needed redecorating and updating although reminiscent of our grandparents era; the scent of the soap was very old fashioned. Breakfast being served until 10 30am yet we had to be out of our room by 10am meant we were unable to brush our teeth. So extending the check out time to 11am would be beneficial.
Breakfast was the best we have ever had, healthy options and local produce. Location was stunning with good range of public footpaths.
