The heating was on when I arrived which made it a bit toasty, but the staff told me how to turn it off which I did. A room fridge for meds / dog food would have been super helpful

A stunning location with gorgeous views, accessible and really close to main roads. Gorgeous grounds, even spotted a peacock strutting across the front lawn! The staff were so kind and super accommodating. They had a specific dining room I could take me dog in, and specific rooms I could book and bring my dog to. The staff were really helpful, the food was lovely, and it was a shame I had to rush off and leave half of my wonderful breakfast behind! Highly recommend!

    The bathroom taps need updating.

It was a beautiful old building and the friendly Peacock residents were amazing.

Stunning peacocks but be prepared to hear them at night! Apart from a wee shop a mile away and a couple of local pubs you are quite isolated. However, I quite liked this!

Good location, only 3 miles from Cockermouth but secluded in the country.Lovely views from the bar and gardens.Friendly staff and great value food.

Aside from the above criticisms, we enjoyed our stay. It 'ticked' most of the boxes we aim for.

The room was very small. The bathroom also. Like so many hotels we visit, there's rarely enough shelf space for toiletries. This is a major, major criticism. The shower was really too small, with little room to move around AND absolutely nowhere to put one's toiletries. The web-site showed photos of bigger rooms with views across the landscape. Ours was attic-like with a restricted view of a cornfield!!

The lounge - it rained one day but we were able to make ourselves comfortable in there with puzzle-books etc. Acceptable choice of dishes for evening meal. Well-stocked bar. Good breakfast.

Noisy peacocks. Very beautiful but residents feed them and they've become pests like seagulls.

Beautiful views. I had an issue with my room and the owner upgraded me with no extra cost. Very friendly staff. House a little tired but still charming.

Lovely place but a bit tired. A small niggle was how badly lite the bathroom was.

A nice family run country house hotel. Friendly staff. Dinner & breakfast was good, very plentiful & good value. While dog friendly, they were segregated in a separate dinning room - an excellent idea. Good size comfortable room.

Beautiful building in a lovely quiet area with beautiful views, peacocks on the lawn, plenty of parking. The food was excellent home cooked and plenty of it, the girls we had waitressing on us on the two different nights were so friendly and helpful we believe they were sisters both a credit to the hotel. We would definitely stay again when in that part of the country.

This lovely hotel could only be improved with a bit of redecoration. It's looking a little tired, but functions well and is in a fabulous location.

Broughton Craggs is a lovely family run hotel which is perhaps in need of a little updating. We love to support the independents when we can. Everything here was comfortable, clean, and the staff were very helpful. We had a spacious, quiet room with fabulous views and generous supplies of tea/coffee/biscuits. The breakfasts were great - plenty to eat and served very hot. The location worked well for us and we enjoyed our stay.

To be honest, there was nothing to dislike. We did have drinks at the bar and in our opinion the beers are exceptionally well kept and all at reasonable cost. A lovely open fire in the comfortable lounge. How can you complain.

A lovely welcome, excellent food, more than generous helpings at a very reasonable price. All cooked very well and served with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

the hotel was more than adequate for my stay over and the cost was very reasonable i thought

The bedroom was a little cold although the radiator was on... not a deal breaker as its a big old house so understandable.. could have done with a a bit more water pressure on the shower but yet again only a minor niggle..
