How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Found the mattress hard but there again this is down to personal choice.

Access to parking is tight for big vehicles ( we were in a small camper) but this is explained when you book.
Spotlessly clean and great location to explore Ulverston and the surrounding area. Lots of shops, pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

The fridge was very small and shelves were broken. The toilet lid was broken.

Water didn't heat up properly for the bath/shower
Lovely location, cute little cottage perfect for what we wanted! Wandered round the town, went to the zoo and had some cosy nights in.

Bed in main room was really uncomfortable and hard, did not feel even, my partner did not mind it but I did not sleep well due to this but this is personal preference and can’t be to meet everyone’s preference.
Property was located near to town centre, within 2 mins walking distance of pubs, restaurants, take aways etc. Property was easily accessible via lock box, clean, had everything you need for a few days away especially self catering.

Very nice stay the apartment was immaculately clean and tidy, kitchen supplies were brilliant, upstairs toilet and washroom was a bonus and both bedrooms were sizable and clean .Many thanks for the bottle of wine left

Outdated instruction booklet. Would have been better with small touches such as sample shampoo and conditioner, also dishwashing tablets.
Cosy, toilet upstairs handy. Nice kitchen and good beds.

Not an issue for us but ……. It’s a terrace and as such staircase is a little steep (baby/stair gates are available) There is car parking right outside but access is down a narrow alley, we took the owners advice to reverse in
Great location as a gateway to the lakes and Cumbrian coast. Less than 5 mins walk to the high street Very clean and bright, kept to a high standard. Good communication with the owners Pet friendly although ‘House rules’ apply I accidentally left a small bag behind and the owners went out of their way to send it on to me.

We were there in winter and the heating is hive controlled. I kept turning it on but it kept going back to holiday mode. I use hive at home but could not stop it turning off so each morning we got up to a cold house and no hot water. Fortunately we prefer showers in the evening.
Good size property in a good location with own parking being a 5 minute walk from the town centre. Has everything you need for a short stay and even has a shared back garden. Entrance is easy through a key storage lock. First impression was good as clean and a large property. Had 2 bedrooms but closed one off as not required. Overall a very nice stay and would happily recommend

Damp issue and bedding was dirty in the main bedroom. Should look into a curtain or insulation was very drafty, probably wasting a lot of money on that especially by front door.

A bit tight getting a car to property but we parked easily on adjacent roads, not a problem for us.
