There was a mix up with our evening meals on one of the nights and our prebooked meal was unavailable however we were given complimentary free meals as compensation so really nothing to be unhappy about.

The rooms were spacious and smelled lovely and clean. The sea views were amazing, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were filling and plentiful the evening means available at an extra cost were delicious.

Generally, the whole building was cold, especially the breakfast dining room.

The location was good with very pleasant staff. The breakfast was very nice with a varied menu. The room was a nice big one with a comfortable bed and 2 easy chairs.

The staff were very efficient and helpful, nothing was too much for them. My room was basic but had everything you would need. It has a beautiful sea view. Looking across the sea at night time and seeing all lights coming from the Edinburgh was quite breathtaking. The food, I’m 63 years old and I have admit the breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever had, it was no fluke either. I had the Scottish breakfast three mornings on the trot and every morning the quality was absolutely spot on.

The rooms could use some updating.

The staff at Burntisland were wonderful! We had a mix-up at check-in — requested a twin room (even verified via Booking e-mail 2 weeks prior to stay) but were given a double room. Joan (I think was her name) was very kind and gave us a roll-away for the first night and then made sure that we were in a twin room the next night. Joan is a really hard worker and went out of her way to help us with other things. Also the breakfasts were the best of all the places we stayed while in Scotland — really amazing cook!

This hotel delivers high and attentive service. The location is close to sublime. Station and town within walking distance, and train to Edinburgh in about 40 minutes.

Couple of minor maintenance issues in room (it is an old character building), and wifi strength in room was low.

Food and drink quality and range of choice was really excellent, staff were very helpful and friendly, very close to beach, good parking.

our only thing we wished for would be an earlier breakfast, as we have two young children, but we did manage to feed them something whilst waiting and it was lovely when we did eat it.

location was fabulous. i was initially worried by the train but we got used to it and it wasn’t an issue. great for kids with a great park and beach nearby.

There are 4 bedrooms rooms in this busy bar - restaurant situated close to the beach. The twin beds in the room are a good size and comfortable and the room is clean with tea/coffee and toiletries supplied. We didnt hear any activity from the bar in the room. Great breakfast and lovely dinner. Staff very busy but helpful.

The attached bathroom was outdated and cramped. It worked okay but wasn't great.

We had arrived several hours before check-in time and they allowed us to leave our luggage in their care. When we came back after exploring the city, they had already taken it up to our room. We were able to extend our stay by a night which was convenient. The Sands is located quite close to the firth and we enjoyed walking along the shoreline and watching people clamming and playing with their kids and dogs.
