Having to enter a code for the room door, rather than using a key, was a bit strange.

Great location, just a short walk from the Cambus O'May footbridge. Good cheese board and a fine pint of Belhaven Best. I had a lovely, cozy single room with a decent view, a comfy bed and a wonderful rain shower (once I worked out the taps!) Breakfast was continental, with a wide choice of breads, cereals, juices and some fresh fruit. The coffee machine worked very well. Also a red squirrel hopped across the gravel outside the dining room window.

The location for the purpose of my trip was great. The surrounding of the hotel is lovely and peaceful so you don’t get noise from traffic. The staff on the arrival and at the breakfast was very friendly. The room was the best bit. I was doing the balmoral races so it was exactly what I needed. Small cosy and warm, with great shower. Big enough for me to stretch. Comfortable bed to rest. It was just great.

No fresh coffee, there is a machine for hot water and then sachet coffee/hot chocolate and tea. We felt it was more worth £90-100 per night opposed to the £140 we paid.

Beautiful rooms, the bathroom was lush! Very tasteful. Dinner was superb, continental breakfast was okay.

The place was ideal for me, nothing to add.

Wonderfully quiet nights, by the wood, with only a blackbird waking me up at a very reasonable time. Breakfast choices was good too, the room extremely pleasant in an old fashioned style I loved, whilst the shower is modern and efficient.

Location and atmosphere. Also the food which was very tasty. We had to cut our stay short last minute due to a scheduling mistake on our behalf. The hotel accomodated the change without any fuss and reimbursed us accordingly. Many thanks.

Breakfast was continental and varied, although I prefer a traditional breakfast - evening meals were very good and a decent menu.

I think that the hotel's description had been updated since we booked. The breakfast was a cold buffet, which we thought was limited. The streaming TV was freeview and we expected a movie channel. The communal space in the hotel was turned over to dining tables in the main, which created a feel of a B&B rather than a hotel. The staff member on our first night seemed to be a little overwhelmed which may have influenced our views as we had to find our room, request a different dining table etc.

The hotel drive was a bit pot hold but quite alright using a little care.

We had an excellent 3 day Holiday. The hotel was homely, freindly and we felt relaxed while staying there. we had 3 good evening meals and we were able to do the walks I had intended to do.

The lobby had a stale smell & for the orice of our stay the continental breakfast was disappointing.

The rustic old world charm. The location near Ballater, suspension bridge & the hiking.
